Hello,
This is Globie Plastic Surgery Clinic.

Breast Fat Graft Survival Rate
A Clinic That Follows the Principles of Plastic Surgery, Globie Plastic Surgery Clinic
---
Following the basics is the most important principle in plastic surgery. Procedures should be planned with the patient’s entire future in mind. Both the process and the results must be safe. Globie always puts its patients first.
Consultation is an important step that leads to surgery. To help you feel satisfied with your surgical results, we promise personalized consultations with experienced medical professionals.
Postoperative care can also be considered an extension of the surgery. We provide personalized care programs to help our patients recover quickly.
People who search for the breast fat graft survival rate
usually come to us with similar concerns.
It is clearly the same procedure,
but the results are so different from one review to another.
I am so worried about which result I will end up with.
We fully understand that anxiety.
The fat graft survival rate is not simply a matter of technical skill;
it should be understood as the result of a combination of factors,
including individual constitution, surgical technique, and lifestyle habits after surgery.
As a result, even after going through the exact same process,
some people have clearly maintained volume one month later,
while others feel that more volume has disappeared than expected.
At Globie, we would like to honestly share where these differences come from
and how the environment for graft survival can be made more favorable.
The Three Variables That Determine the Graft Survival Rate

I was told that the surgery went well,
so why are my results so different from my friend’s?
This is a situation we often encounter in the consultation room.
Whenever we meet someone whose expression shows both frustration and anxiety,
we first explain the following:

The breast fat graft survival rate is not determined by the surgery alone;
it is the result of three variables acting simultaneously.
The first is individual constitution.
After fat cells are transferred to a new location,
they must receive blood and oxygen from the surrounding tissue
to survive, and the speed of this supply
varies greatly depending on each person’s vascular distribution.
In the consultation room, we not infrequently see cases
where two people with similar body types undergo the same process
but achieve markedly different results.

This is why academic reports show fat graft survival rates
ranging from 15% to 75%,
while the clinical average is reported to be
approximately 50% of the grafted volume.
The second is surgical technique.
When fat is concentrated in one area,
necrosis begins from the inside.
At Globie, we use a triple-layer graft survival approach,
injecting small amounts across multiple layers, including beneath the muscle,
under the mammary gland tissue, and beneath the skin.
We also use SVF (stem cells) to create an environment
that supports the formation of new blood vessels.

The third variable—and the one patients can directly influence—
is postoperative care.
We will now go over the key points.
This Is the Postoperative Period When Graft Survival Is Determined

The surgery is over, so isn’t everything done now?
When checking patients’ recovery, we find that more people than expected
return to their daily routines based on this assumption.

However, it takes two to three months
for the transferred fat to receive nutrients stably through the blood vessels,
and how this period is spent
essentially determines the final volume.
The first thing to check is the choice of underwear.
When the area is directly examined one week after surgery,
the tissue is usually still soft and not yet firmly settled.
If you wear underwear with underwires
or firm padding at this point, the grafted area is continuously compressed,
which can obstruct blood flow.
This is why we recommend wearing a soft bra
or a seamless bra for at least one month.
Smoking is the first issue we warn about in practice.
Nicotine constricts peripheral blood vessels
for more than 30 minutes each time a cigarette is smoked.
If blood flow is repeatedly interrupted
while fat cells are waiting for new blood vessels,
even cells that might have survived may ultimately fail to do so.
Secondhand smoke is no exception,
and smoking should be completely avoided
for at least one month before and after surgery.

It is best to limit alcohol consumption for two weeks.
Sleep position and diet are also easy to overlook.
For the first week, lying on your back
with your upper body elevated approximately 30 degrees
is beneficial both for reducing swelling
and protecting the area.
Sleeping on your side should be avoided until after two weeks,
and sleeping on your stomach should be avoided for six months.
For the following two to three months,
adequate nutritional intake is essential.
Suddenly reducing your food intake for weight management
can directly negatively affect the graft survival rate.

There are also points that must be addressed honestly.
If the skin is examined and the mammary gland tissue is found to be excessively thin,
or if there is not enough fat available for harvesting,
it may be difficult to achieve the volume you want.
When these conditions are identified,
we explain them openly during the consultation
and consider together the approach that is better suited to each person.
This is because we always keep in mind
that this procedure is not the right answer for everyone.
The breast fat graft survival rate
is not a result determined the moment you leave the operating table;
it is shaped together with your daily life
over the following two to three months.
At Globie, our principle is to provide guidance without concealing
even the possible side effects and limitations based on each individual’s circumstances.
First confirming which approach suits your constitution and body type,
and whether the conditions are currently appropriate for the procedure,
is the fastest way to achieve a satisfactory result without unnecessary trial and error.
Please feel free to contact us for a consultation.
※ The fat graft survival rate and results of breast fat transfer may vary depending on an individual’s constitution, lifestyle habits, and surgical method. Side effects such as inflammation, calcification, and cysts may occur.
