The sound of a camera shutter during treatment
is not something you hear often at a dental clinic.
That’s because taking intraoral photos every time
is not an easy thing to do.
But our clinic is a little different.
I take photos in almost every treatment.

Today, I’ll explain why it’s good to receive treatment
at a place that takes a lot of photosㅎㅎ
Among patients visiting for the first time,
some ask,
“Doctor, do we really need to take this?”
When that happens, I smile and say:
“Yes, we do need to take it.
It’s so we can provide better treatment
to you.”
Let me explain in a little more detail.
The first reason is to make my explanations easier to understand.

The oral cavity is, by nature, not easy for people to see for themselves.
Of course, you can see your front teeth well in a mirror,
but the molars beyond the canines are not easy to see.
Even with a mirror, they are hard to see clearly,
and there is saliva in the mouth and it is dark as well.
So I invested in advanced equipment and a camera myself
so that patients can see clearly,
and I take photos.

Before treatment, I clearly show the current condition
and explain what treatment will be needed going forward.
After treatment, I show a before-and-after comparison
and explain,
“Before treatment it was like this,
and now the treatment has been completed neatly like this.”
This helps patients understand their oral condition much better.

As I kept taking one photo after another,
so many photos gathered like thisㅎㅎ
The second reason is for myself.
Photos taken with a camera look much larger and clearer
than when viewed with the naked eye,
so even small cavities, hidden cracks, and tiny gaps
can be identified.

In addition, after treatment,
I take photos like the one above to check whether
the treatment was done properly.
I can review whether there was anything I missed,
and it serves as a feedback tool for better treatment.
After the day’s treatment is over,
I sit in the director’s office and look at the photos from today’s cases,
thinking every day about whether this really was the best I could do,
and how I can do better
to provide improved care.
The third reason is for submitting to academic societies or seminars.

Last month, I gave a lecture for dentists
at the Megagen Implant headquarters.
Focusing on cases I treated,
I share how treatment can make the front teeth
more natural and beautiful.
When presenting in front of many dentists,
I have to set an example,
so I can’t help but work even harder on treatmentㅎㅎ
I treat every moment as if I am giving a presentation,
taking photos and carrying out treatment with that mindset.

So that the treatment of each and every patient
can become another step in the growth of my clinical career,
I press the camera shutter again today.
I would appreciate it if you would understand
that the photos I take are not just records,
but proof that I put my heart into the treatment🙏🏻
These days, not just me but many doctors,
I understand, are investing in expensive equipment
and taking many treatment photos.
At the very least, if it is a place that works this hard
to take photos of patients,
it means they are treating you sincerely,
so you can visit with confidence^^
Thank you for reading this long post.
