He was a 59-year-old man living in the United States,

It was not just a space problem.

At first, when we examined the inside of the mouth,

we could only see the space between the front teeth,

but after taking a closer look with magnification and photos,

the problem was more serious.

The teeth were quite worn down,

and toward the right side

they appeared slightly lifted.

It was not a problem that could be solved

simply by filling the space;

the imbalance in alignment

was making the front teeth stand out even more.

In cases like this, simply filling the gap can make the teeth look bulky

or easily disrupt the overall harmony.

So instead of a simple resin filling,

we determined that a resin veneer,

which can adjust both proportion and alignment,

would be more suitable.

A design that considered proportion and alignment

When planning treatment,

I always prioritize "teeth that harmonize with the face."

This case was no different.

First, length was secured through gum contouring

If the front teeth are spaced apart and also look

short, the teeth can appear even more stubby.

By slightly exposing teeth that had been covered by the gums,

the length and proportions came into balance.

Second, resin veneer design

To ease the asymmetry caused by the lifted position,

we had to carefully adjust the angle and thickness

of the resin being applied.

Rather than simply filling the space between the front teeth,

we designed it so that the entire dental arch would look neat and aligned.

1. Removal of existing resin

There was some previously attached resin left in places,

and these areas must be removed.

If new resin is added while the old material remains,

the bonding strength drops and the edges become visible.

2. Gum contouring

To address the cause of the stubby appearance,

we slightly reshaped the gums to secure more length.

It was almost as if we had "unearthed" teeth that had been buried.

This process alone makes the teeth look much longer

and more aligned.

3. Resin veneer bonding

We layered the resin so that translucency and color

blended naturally.

Rather than covering it with a single color,

we separately recreated the deeper internal color

and the transparent outer layer

so that light could pass through naturally.

We also slightly adjusted the alignment so that

when smiling, the entire set of teeth would look more even.

Naturally, as if it had always been there

When the treatment was finished and I handed over a mirror,

he kept looking at it for a long time

without saying anything.

Then he quietly smiled and said,

"Now it finally looks right."

But the real reaction came from his wife,

who was watching from the side.

said, "It looks so much more natural, and prettier!"

and smiled even more broadly.

As the gap closed naturally,

the overall dental arch looked much neater,

and thanks to the gum contouring,

the proportions also changed harmoniously.

Most of all, the teeth did not look thick or artificially large,

but natural, as if they had always been there,

which satisfied both the patient and his wife.

No matter how good a prosthetic is,

it cannot be better than a natural tooth.

That is why I aim to preserve teeth as much as possible

and intervene only as much as necessary.

In this case as well, if we had simply closed the space

between the front teeth,

the teeth would have looked bulky

and the impression would have become more awkward.

But by combining gum contouring and resin veneer,

we approached the case in a way that restored

the original proportions and alignment of the teeth,

which allowed us to achieve a satisfying result.
