This patient was a 66-year-old man who had been using dentures for approximately 3–4 years.

Because the patient frequently traveled to China for work, his time in Korea was limited, so his treatment schedule also had to be planned around his departure dates.

What Is Full-Arch Implant Treatment?

Full-arch implant treatment uses implants to restore chewing function and appearance when multiple teeth are missing.

Rather than simply placing a large number of implants, the treatment plan considers all of the following:

The amount of remaining jawbone

The location of the maxillary sinus

The bite

Facial shape

Chewing function

For this reason, experience and diagnostic systems are very important in full-arch implant treatment.

Customized Diagnosis Through Detailed Examinations

Before treatment, Seoul Ove Dental Hospital examined the current condition of the jawbone and the location of the nerves through:

✔ CT scans

✔ Intraoral photographs

The detailed examination showed that several teeth had a poor prognosis. To ensure stable full-arch implants, it was decided to proceed with implant treatment after extraction.

In particular, the upper jaw had insufficient jawbone in areas where teeth had been missing for a long time, so a sinus lift was also required.

After implants are placed, they need time to firmly integrate with the jawbone.

The final prosthesis is not made immediately because sufficient time must pass before the implants can be used stably over the long term.

After the patient’s implants had undergone stable osseointegration, a customized zirconia prosthesis was made.
