Hello! This is Seoul Of Dental Hospital.
Today, we would like to introduce in detail
which directors at our hospital are responsible for which treatments,
as many people are especially curious about
implant treatment.
Although dental pain may appear similar on the surface,
the causes often differ from person to person.

It may be caused by tooth decay or a nerve problem,
or discomfort may begin in the gums or an old prosthesis.
Implant treatment is also not completed with surgery alone;
the final tooth placed on top and subsequent care
must be considered together.
The Director in Charge of Implant Surgery
and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Career of Director Junhong Jung at Seoul Of Dental Hospital
Director Junhong Jung is a specialist in
oral and maxillofacial surgery and a specialist in
comprehensive dentistry, as well as a certified specialist in
maxillofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
He completed his internship and
oral and maxillofacial surgery residency
at Seoul National University Dental Hospital,
and handles treatments requiring surgical judgment, such as
implants and bone grafting,
implant revision surgery,
and wisdom tooth extraction.
Implant treatment is not simply a matter of placing an artificial root in an empty space.
The height and width of the jawbone,
the surrounding nerves and anatomical structures,
and the patient’s overall health
must all be assessed together.
Based on 3D CT scans and an examination of the oral condition,
Director Junhong Jung assesses the scope of treatment needed
and develops an implant surgery plan
within reasonable limits that do not place undue strain on the patient.
Implant treatment may place greater importance on preoperative diagnosis and postoperative care than on the surgery itself.
Directors Jiyoung Park, Wonwoong Jang, and Myunghyun Park,
responsible for implant prosthetics,
elderly dentures, and Objet laminates

Seoul Of Dental Hospital
has a three-specialist treatment system
with three prosthodontic specialists.
Director Jiyoung Park,
Director Wonwoong Jang,
and Director Myunghyun Park
are all prosthodontic specialists
responsible for implant prosthetics,
crowns,
Objet laminates,
and denture treatment.
Prosthetic treatment is not simply a process of filling an empty space
or covering a tooth.
In addition to color and shape that harmonize with the surrounding teeth,
the height and contact relationships must also be considered
so that the patient does not experience discomfort when chewing food.
In particular, with implants,
the final tooth must be completed comfortably after surgery
so that it can be used properly in daily life.
A prosthodontic specialist checks the implant position,
gum shape,
and the condition of the surrounding teeth,
then plans a prosthesis suited to the patient.
For treatments where natural shape and
color expression are important,
such as laminates and esthetic restorations for front teeth,
prosthodontic specialists also proceed after examining
the facial shape, lip line, and characteristics of the existing teeth.
Seoul Of Dental Hospital also operates an in-house dental laboratory,
allowing the medical staff and technicians to communicate directly
about the color and shape of prostheses during fabrication.
Preservation treatment to save natural teeth,
Director Haneul Jung

Director Haneul Jung
is a specialist in conservative dentistry
responsible for treatments that preserve damaged natural teeth,
including cavity treatment and root canal treatment.
It is not the case that every painful tooth needs to be extracted
or requires an implant or prosthetic treatment.
The depth of the cavity, the condition of the tooth root,
and the remaining tooth structure must be assessed
to first determine whether the current tooth can be maintained.
When a deep cavity or inflammation has progressed to the nerve,
root canal treatment is used to control pain and inflammation,
and treatment is provided so that the natural tooth
can be used for as long as possible within the feasible range.
General dental examinations and routine treatment,
Director Kyungsu Lee

Director Kyungsu Lee
is responsible for general dental care, including oral examinations,
checking for cavities and gum conditions,
and examining discomfort in areas that have received previous treatment.
He first listens to the symptoms experienced by the patient,
conducts the necessary examinations,
and then explains the treatment
sequence appropriate for the current condition.
Rather than examining only the area causing discomfort,
he also checks the condition of the surrounding teeth and gums
and connects the patient with the necessary treatment.
Even a single symptom must be
examined from multiple perspectives
to establish an accurate
treatment plan.
Why does implant treatment require collaboration among multiple specialists?

Dental treatment often
does not end with just one specialty.
Implant treatment requires oral and maxillofacial surgery
followed by the fabrication of the final tooth by a prosthodontist,
and when a cavity is deep,
conservative dentistry may need to be provided first.
If there is inflammation in the gums,
the gum condition may need to be stabilized
before proceeding with the next treatment.
At Seoul Of Dental Hospital,
specialists who graduated from Seoul National University work together
and share information about each patient’s condition and treatment plan.
Even when undergoing a single implant treatment,
the director responsible for surgery
and the director responsible for prosthetics
communicate with each other and continue the treatment,
so from the patient’s perspective,
treatment can be completed at one hospital
without having to move between departments.
The same treatment is not necessary for every patient.

The responsible director and treatment sequence may vary
depending on whether the current tooth can be preserved,
whether implant surgery is necessary,
or whether an existing prosthesis needs to be remade.
Treatment outcomes and the recovery process may differ
depending on the patient’s oral condition and overall health.
Seoul Of Dental Hospital will continue
to explain each step so that patients can fully understand
their dental condition and treatment process,
and the director responsible for each field of care
will carefully assess the necessary procedures.
