Hello, this is 서울오브치과병원 :)
When you seek a consultation because your front teeth have become darker,
you may sometimes hear:
“Discoloration this severe cannot be treated with veneers.
They all need to be covered.”
That was also what the person we are introducing this time was told.
They had heard from several places that crowns were the only possible treatment.
Hoping to receive veneer treatment, they came all the way from Japan,
and successfully completed their veneer treatment at our hospital :)
When they first visited

Before treatment
[Summary of condition before treatment]
✔ The front teeth that had undergone root canal treatment had become dark
✔ One tooth in particular had more pronounced discoloration near the gums
✔ Although the patient had undergone orthodontic treatment in the past, the front teeth appeared slightly misaligned
We first began by separately checking the depth of the discoloration and the condition of each tooth.
Why were they told that “only crowns would work”?

Veneers vs. Crown Treatment
After root canal treatment, the tooth can become darker from the inside.
Veneers are made by bonding a thin layer of ceramic to the front surface of the tooth,
so if the color underneath is too dark, it may show through.
For this reason, many dentists may determine that covering the entire tooth is the safer option.
However, crowns require the tooth to be filed down all the way around.
If healthy tooth structure is covered as well,
that means losing more of the natural tooth.
Treatment plan
The three teeth with deeper discoloration were treated with crowns,
while the remaining teeth received 오브제로 Pure Veneers.

Teeth that could be preserved without covering them entirely
were left with minimal reduction.
Even among the same six front teeth, each tooth has a different condition,
so the treatment method may also differ.
The key is matching the color into one uniform shade
Crowns and veneers differ in both thickness and material.
If their colors are made separately, the boundary can remain visible.
서울오브치과병원 has an in-house dental laboratory
(오브제로랩).
The dental technician directly examined the patient’s teeth
and matched the color and translucency of all six teeth together.
The patient’s requests

After treatment – improved discoloration
We first listened to the desired shape
The patient’s requests were clear.
✅ A color that looked as natural and bright as possible
✅ Not too thick or artificial-looking
✅ So the front teeth would not look flat or overly wide,
with the canine tips slightly pointed
서울오브치과병원 designs treatments through thorough conversations
to meet each patient’s needs.
After treatment

The previously dark front teeth now blend into a single tone with the adjacent teeth.
They were finished so they would not look thick,
with a natural line when smiling.
*However, the length of time the results are maintained may vary depending on each person’s oral condition and care habits,
so regular checkups are necessary.
For those who
✅ Have experienced darkening of the front teeth after root canal treatment
✅ Have been told that “everything needs to be covered”
✅ Are wondering whether crowns or veneers would be more appropriate
When the condition differs from tooth to tooth, the treatment method should also be tailored accordingly.
This is something that must be determined through a direct examination,
so we provide guidance after the checkup.
Everything is handled within one hospital
