Hello, this is Seoul OVZERO Dental Hospital. :)
When patients visit us for a consultation about gaps between their front teeth,
this is usually the first question they ask.
"Can't the gap just be filled with composite resin?"
Sometimes, that is the right option.
However, it does not apply to every case of spacing.
Today, we will explain the criteria through a case involving veneers for gaps between the front teeth.
At the First Visit

Before treatment
The patient's concerns were as follows.
✔ The gap between the front teeth was noticeable when smiling
✔ Gaps appeared in several places, not just one
✔ The patient also wanted to improve the tooth color
A close look at the front teeth makes the condition clear.
There were spaces not only between the central front teeth,
but also between the teeth on either side.
Because each tooth was relatively narrow,
small spaces remained throughout the entire dental arch.
When Composite Resin Is Suitable
What is composite resin?
It is a treatment in which a tooth-colored material is directly bonded to the tooth and shaped.

Gaps between the front teeth: composite resin vs. veneers
Composite resin treatment can be completed in one visit and places less of a financial burden on the patient.
Therefore, composite resin is a good option in cases such as the following.
✅ There is a gap in only one place
✅ The space is narrow and only a small amount of filling is needed
✅ The patient wants to keep the existing tooth color
For these types of cases, we also recommend composite resin first.
Why Composite Resin Was Not Recommended
In this case involving veneers for gaps between the front teeth,
there were spaces in several places.

If there is only one gap, only that spot needs to be filled.
However, if there are gaps in several places and only one or two are filled,
those teeth will become wider while the remaining spaces will stay as they are.
In the end, the teeth may appear mismatched in size.

It is also possible to fill all the spaces with composite resin,
but this can lead to another problem.
If material is repeatedly added to narrow teeth, they can become bulky.
As the bonding area becomes larger, the possibility of discoloration
or detachment over time may also increase.
"Veneers take a different approach."
Veneers for gaps between the front teeth
increase the width of several teeth little by little.
This distributes the space that was concentrated in one area
evenly across the entire dental arch.
How Was the Treatment Performed?
For this case involving gaps between the front teeth,
veneers were placed on the upper front teeth using OVZERO veneers.

First, we calculated which teeth would share the space and by how much.
If only the central front teeth are widened, the center of the face
can look heavy, so we slightly increased the width of the adjacent teeth as well
to create a natural flow.
We also improved the color.
If only the spacing is corrected while the color remains unchanged,
it may continue to be a concern.
What We Paid Attention to in the Design
We did not completely eliminate the spaces between the teeth.

OVZERO veneers
There are naturally tiny spaces where the teeth meet.
If these are filled completely, the teeth can look as though a single plate has been attached.
These spaces need to remain for a natural-looking dental arch.
We also considered the areas that meet the gums.
If the teeth are widened too much toward the gums while filling the spaces,
food may become trapped or the gums may be irritated.
Therefore, we shaped the contours to follow the gum line.
Before / After Treatment

OVZERO veneers
The spaces were organized,
and the front teeth were connected in one continuous flow.
When smiling, the eyes are not drawn first to the gaps,
and the overall appearance looks comfortable and balanced.
However, the longevity of veneers varies depending on usage habits and care,
so regular checkups are necessary.
Q&A: Frequently Asked Questions
Veneers for Gaps Between the Front Teeth
Q. Aren't veneers more expensive than composite resin?
The cost per treatment is higher for veneers.
However, composite resin may discolor or come off over time,
requiring retreatment in some cases.
Because the cost varies depending on how many teeth are treated and how,
we explain the costs of both options during the consultation.
Q. If there is only one gap, is composite resin better?
There is a high possibility that it is.
If the issue can be resolved without altering the tooth,
that option is preferable. We provide guidance accordingly.
Q. Are there cases where orthodontic treatment is necessary?
Yes. If the cause is the jawbone or the position of the teeth themselves,
or if the gap is large, orthodontic treatment should come first.
We determine this first and then choose the treatment method.
People Who May Need OVZERO Veneers
✅ People with gaps in several places, not just between one pair of front teeth
✅ People whose composite resin has discolored or fallen off
✅ People who want to improve both the spacing and the tooth color
The appropriate method for gaps between teeth varies completely
depending on the cause and extent of the spacing.
We do not recommend veneers to people for whom composite resin is sufficient.
Conversely, if the spacing is extensive but is covered with composite resin,
it may need to be treated again later.
Seoul OVZERO Dental Hospital Provides Collaborative Care

OVZERO
At Seoul OVZERO Dental Hospital, a prosthodontic specialist
is responsible for this assessment and treatment design.
The hospital also has an in-house dental laboratory,
so the dental technician responsible for fabrication reviews the diagnostic materials together
and coordinates the shape and color.
