I stopped by a bookstore and saw that Shin Sa-im-dang Joo Eon-kyu’s new book had come out, so I read it. The book is not very long, so you can finish it quickly.
There were many relatable parts, but the main message was to ‘take action right away.’ Don’t overthink it; you have to act first if you want anything to happen.
The passages that stood out to me are summarized below.
The only strategy I chose was to keep going no matter what.
Even if I’m tired, I just do it.
Even if it’s not fun, I just do it.
Even if I don’t want to do it, I just do it.
If even a small irritation arises, cut it off immediately.
There are people in life whom you should never ignore.
They are the people who are only negative without offering any alternatives.
The videos you watch, the things you hear, and the information you fill your spare moments with eventually determine who you become.
The fastest way is to find someone who has already achieved that goal and learn from them directly and ask them questions.
The harder things get, the more calmly you should act. The more anxious you are, the more relaxed you should act. Just managing your expression can be enough to take control of the situation.
Even in difficult situations, if you show a calm and composed attitude, your colleagues gain great comfort and strength from that stability. That is the essence of leadership.
As time passes, a person’s true ability is judged by these two things.
Diligence and responsibility.
When passion comes to you, you must turn that passion into a vision. Only then can that passion last for a long time, and in the end, you will be able to achieve the goals you want. The person who can turn passion into vision is the person who truly succeeds.
Never show off how hard you are working. If you do, no one will bother you, and you can quietly get ahead of others. Succeeding quietly without showing that you are trying hard is the most graceful and effective way to live life.
Trying to be recognized by people who do not appreciate your value is like lighting a fire in a house where no one lives.
When irritation rises up, cut off that feeling immediately. It matters.
When you meet someone who only speaks negatively, your energy is wasted. Over time, you stop meeting them.
The most relatable line was that the videos, writing, and information I consume in spare moments determine who I become. YouTube videos, blog posts, articles, and other things I end up seeing without intending to seem to gradually shape me. It was something I had not fully recognized before, but it suddenly hit me.
Don’t try to handle everything alone; asking an expert right away and learning from them is what really saves time.
A leader should not show emotion. Even when something major happens, stay composed.
Do not tell people that you are living a hardworking life. (Hmm. I’m not sure about this one.)
