Hello.
I’m Lim Seong-yun, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Just Plastic Surgery.
If you are preparing for lower eyelid surgery, you probably have many concerns.
One of the most common questions is about anesthesia, recovery, and side effects.
💤 How is anesthesia performed?
✓ Sedation anesthesia + local anesthesia used together
✓ At the beginning of surgery, local anesthesia is thoroughly administered while you are in a deep sleep state
✓ After that, the procedure can continue safely even in a lighter sleep state, and it is completed comfortably without pain.

🕒 How long is the recovery period?
Bruising: around 1 week
Swelling: about 2–3 weeks
※ Daily life is possible after the first 1–2 days, and normal daily activities can actually help recovery.
⚠️ What side effects are there?
• Double vision: Because the eye muscles are hardly touched, the likelihood of this occurring at Just Plastic Surgery is very low.
• Changes in eye shape: Asymmetry or changes in shape are minimized as much as possible, and this can also be confirmed in actual medical photos.
• Conjunctival edema: This occurs rarely, but most cases improve quickly.
• Infection/bleeding: The incidence is very low thanks to a sterile system and thorough hemostasis.
💬 In conclusion
Lower eyelid surgery is performed safely under sedation anesthesia and careful monitoring, and recovery tends to be relatively fast.
Even those worried about side effects can feel less anxious when they understand the actual likelihood and recovery process accurately.
