Hello,
I’m Director Oh Young-ju of Oblige Clinic in Hongdae :)

If you are reading this post, you are probably considering a Botox procedure,
or may have already had it done once or twice.
Since it involves needles going into the face or body, it is only natural to worry about side effects, pain, and various other concerns.
If it is your first time, you are likely to have even more questions.

Today, I’d like to talk about five things patients should definitely know before getting Botox.
I’ve also included questions we often hear at the clinic and the parts patients have later regretted.
Please take a moment to focus and read through it!
Start by figuring out what result you want

Botox is used to reduce wrinkles, soften the jawline, and make the trapezius muscles or calves look slimmer.
It can be quite effective, but it is not a cure-all for every problem.
For example, for deep wrinkles around the eyes, fillers or lifting procedures may be a better fit than Botox.
Did you know that?
So before the procedure, it is a good idea to first think about what you want and what kind of change you need.

That is why, when consulting with staff or medical professionals before the procedure,
it is most important to speak honestly about your concerns as much as possible.
That way, the medical team can give you the right direction.
It can also help prevent the disappointment of ending up with results that are different from what you expected.
Who performs the procedure matters far more.

Botox is known as a relatively simple procedure, but what really matters is the clinician’s hand.
That is because the appearance can look completely different depending on where and how much Botox is injected.
For example, if too much is injected, your expression may look unnatural,
while if too little is injected, you may not feel any effect at all.

Therefore, when choosing a clinic to visit,
rather than selecting one based only on cost or promotions,
it is better to carefully check who the medical professional in charge is,
and whether they have sufficient experience.
If it is your first time, a place that explains things well and guides you calmly will likely feel much more reassuring.
You will not see a dramatic change right away after the procedure

Botox is not a procedure where you notice changes immediately.
Usually, some change becomes visible about three days after the procedure, and the most noticeable effect appears between one and two weeks.
Because everyone differs in constitution, muscle condition, and metabolic speed, some people may see results a little later.
At first, you may wonder, “Is this right?”
But after a few days, when you look in the mirror, you will likely notice a subtle difference.
I recommend not rushing and waiting patiently :)
Post-procedure care is absolutely not something to neglect

You should be especially careful on the day of the procedure.
Avoid jjimjilbangs, saunas, and strenuous exercise, and the same goes for alcohol.
The reason is simple.
If blood circulation speeds up too much, the Botox may spread or lose effectiveness.^^;
Touching or pressing on the treated area unnecessarily is also not a good idea.
It may feel awkward if it is your first time and you are not sure what to expect, but it is best not to mess with it and to watch it carefully.
Even following the precautions properly can make a big difference in how long the effect lasts, so please keep that in mind.
If you plan to keep getting it regularly,
intervals are important

Botox is not a one-time procedure.
Its effects usually last about 3 to 6 months,
and after that, the muscles return to their original state.
If you want to maintain the effect consistently, repeat treatments are needed, but if the interval is too short, resistance can develop.
In that case, there are times when the medication no longer works at all.
Remember: getting it more often is not always better.

Botox is a procedure many people easily try, but there are also many misunderstandings about it.
A procedure that is satisfying for one person
may be disappointing for someone else.
So before the procedure, ask plenty of questions and receive a calm consultation at a clinic you can trust.
I hope today’s information was helpful to you, even if only a little.
Any question is fine. The medical team is on your side!
Wishing you happiness today as well, this was Director Oh Young-ju :)
