I am Dr. Taeo Park of Relieve Clinic, working to make procedures as painless as possible.
I sat down in front of the computer after another busy day.
Many people who come in for Ulthera often ask, "How many shots of Ulthera do I need?"
I’ll give you a clear answer to that, so I’d appreciate it if you read to the end.
I’ll recommend it in a balanced way from three aspects: cost, pain, and effectiveness.
What is Ulthera?

Ulthera is a lifting procedure that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to create thermal coagulation points in the SMAS layer, promoting collagen regeneration and improving elasticity. It is called a lifting procedure, but I actually think tightening is a more accurate term. In other words, the essence of the procedure is to tighten sagging and lax skin layers.
Ulthera tips are made up of three types.
-
4.5 mm tip: Acts on the SMAS layer for a deep lifting effect
-
3.0 mm tip: Acts on the subcutaneous fat layer to improve tightening and overall skin elasticity
-
1.5 mm tip: Improves fine wrinkles and pores around the eyes, forehead, and other areas
Adjusting these three tips appropriately during the procedure is what gives the provider their personal touch.

And the most important part of Ulthera treatment is the design. Cheek hollowing, the degree of cheekbone prominence, the jawline and the height of the deep cheek area, and everything else must be considered in order to achieve the best results. I’ll leave a link below for related details.

Recommended cases for Ulthera 600 shots

-
People in their late 30s to 50s and older: When overall skin elasticity has declined and sagging in the deep cheek area or nasolabial area is visibly noticeable.
-
When there is a lot of fat: People with a large amount of fat in areas such as under the chin or the cheeks may need a higher number of shots.
Recommended cases for Ulthera 300 shots

-
People in their 20s to early 30s: When there are not many signs of sagging, but the procedure is desired for preventive purposes or to target only specific areas for lifting. (In fact, in many cases, Ulthera is not really necessary in your 20s.)
-
When the procedure is performed together with Onda lifting or SERF, etc.: In these cases, the energy levels of the other devices must also be considered, so Ulthera may not necessarily require a large number of shots. (Of course, 600 shots may produce better results...)
In the end, the key point is that it is divided according to age, the degree of sagging, and the target area. Cost is also something that cannot be ignored. Personally, while Ulthera 600 shots is good, if the cost burden is significant, I also recommend reducing the number of Ulthera shots and receiving it together with Onda lifting.
What about pain?
Pain is also an important consideration. Ulthera is, surprisingly, a procedure that can be done without much difficulty and then you can go home if you pay just a little attention to pain control. Most people who receive Ulthera at our Relieve Clinic often say, "Why would you even need sleep anesthesia?"
I’ll cover how to manage Ulthera pain properly in a later post.
In conclusion, to decide whether to do 300 shots or 600 shots of Ulthera,
"Consultation is the most important thing"
That is the conclusion.
It is most ideal to determine the number of shots after directly consulting with the doctor and considering all factors. Still, I’ve written down the factors I consider when deciding the number of shots, so I hope this will be helpful.
Thank you. This was Dr. Taeo Park.
