Hello, this is Director Park from Relieve.
"Is lip filler a procedure only for younger people?"
That kind of idea is actually just an outdated stereotype.

These days, not only people in their 20s and 30s but also many middle-aged patients in their 40s and older are seeking lip fillers, nose fillers, forehead fillers, and more.
As we age, lip volume decreases and wrinkles become deeper, so for a more refreshed facial impression and brighter expression, lip filler is no longer just a procedure for younger people.
In this article, I’ll explain the criteria for choosing lip fillers, the differences between Korean-made fillers and imported fillers, and the characteristics of Restylane and Juvederm all at once.

What are the criteria for choosing lip filler?
The lips are a body part that moves a lot, so this is an area where selecting a stable formulation is necessary.
For hyaluronic acid fillers that have been supplied worldwide for a long time and are used in dermatology clinics, the fewer added ingredients there are, the lower the risk of immune reactions and nodule formation.
The reason the formulation matters is that if you choose a filler that is too thin, its shape may collapse over time.
If you choose a filler that is too firm, there is also a possibility of clumping, lumpiness, or a foreign-body sensation. That is why it is important to choose the right filler and formulation for the area that needs treatment.

Differences between Korean-made fillers and imported fillers
-
Imported: soft and natural-looking volume, lower chance of side effects
-
Korean-made: firmer formulation, strong for correcting lines and shape
In other words, if you want natural-looking volume, choose an imported filler, and if you want to define contours or lines, choose a Korean-made filler.
The lips move repeatedly when speaking or eating, so compared with other areas, they tend to have a shorter duration.
Compared with Korean-made fillers, imported fillers generally last longer, but the duration is not dramatically longer.
It is difficult to explain the difference in volume, such as whether it is 1cc or 2cc of lip filler, in writing.
There are clear individual differences, and when the procedure is repeated about 2 to 3 times, you can see that the volume and longevity improve clearly.

Restylane vs. Juvederm filler comparison
▶ Restylane
-
Manufacturer: Galderma (Sweden)
-
Features: The particles are relatively uniform and firm. It has a clear tendency to "settle into place" within the skin tissue, which makes it advantageous for shaping.
-
Mainly suitable for localized correction, organizing the lip line, and enhancing contours.
-
Thanks to its firm particles, it tends to hold its shape well, but it may be somewhat limited for increasing lip volume.
▶ Juvederm
-
Manufacturer: Allergan (USA)
-
Features: A blend of low-molecular-weight and high-molecular-weight HA, with viscosity stabilized through cross-linking, giving it a soft and well-spreading texture.
-
Suitable for restoring volume to the entire lip and expressing natural curves.
-
Thanks to its moist and smooth texture, it looks natural and spreads evenly over time, resulting in less foreign-body sensation and a smoother finish.
In common, both products are imported fillers and are hyaluronic acid (HA)-based fillers that are used in a variety of ways for volume correction in the lips, wrinkles, forehead, chin, and other areas. Because they can be dissolved in the body with hyaluronidase (HAase), they are considered fillers with excellent safety.

Lip filler is not simply a procedure for shaping the lips.
To achieve safe and natural results, you need to consider the filler ingredients, formulation, volume, whether it is Korean-made or imported, the skill of the practitioner, and post-procedure care all together.
At Relieve Clinic, we use only fillers with verified safety.
We minimize pain and directly design filler plans tailored to each patient so that good results last longer.
