I’m Dr. Taeo Park of Relieve Clinic, where we focus on pain-free treatment.
In the treatment room, when the topic of glabellar wrinkles comes up, the atmosphere briefly turns down.
"I wasn’t originally the type to look angry..."
"People say I look stern even when I’m just resting my face."

That’s because glabellar wrinkles are not just about a single line of wrinkle; they affect the person’s first impression itself.
So even while considering glabella Botox, many people hesitate.
They worry it might look even more unnatural if done poorly, or that their expression could become stiff.

The effect of glabella Botox is clear
But you need to understand the principle.
Glabellar wrinkles are not caused by just one muscle.
They are created as the corrugator muscles used when frowning, the procerus muscle that pulls between the eyebrows, and the muscles connected to the forehead move together in a complex way.
Botox is not a procedure that stops these muscles from contracting excessively; it is a procedure that reduces them.
So well-designed glabella Botox can soften wrinkles that have already deepened, help prevent them from becoming deeper, and above all make the expression much gentler.
The average duration after treatment is usually around 3 to 4 months, though this varies depending on facial habits.

"Isn’t it better to get Botox often?"
It can actually be the opposite. In the hope of maintaining the effect for longer, people sometimes receive repeated treatments at very short intervals.
But Botox is not a procedure that gets better the more often you get it.
If it is repeated too frequently, resistance to Botox can develop, and after that the effect may gradually weaken.
That is why I usually recommend intervals of 4 to 6 months.
Botox is a matter of timing and design, not the number of times you get it.

Why do glabella Botox side effects happen?
Most of them are determined during the process.
Because the glabella is very close to the eyes, common side effects can include a heavy-looking eyelid sensation or overly raised eyebrows.
The important point is that many of these side effects begin with insufficient evaluation before treatment.
Glabella Botox is not a procedure where you simply inject where the wrinkle is visible.
You need to look at the muscle thickness, the direction of force, left-right balance, and the relationship with the forehead.
Once a side effect occurs, it cannot be dissolved or removed like filler, and you usually have to wait several months for it to naturally wear off, which is why the initial design is extremely important.

Common traits of people whose expressions become stiff
When expressions become awkward, common patterns tend to appear.
They are dosage, location, and balance.
- First, when the dosage is excessive
If too much is injected into the glabella, where several muscles act together, the expression itself can feel frozen.
- Second, when the injection points are standardized
Glabellar wrinkles differ completely from person to person in shape and direction, so if you ignore that and inject in the same place and the same way, it is hard to expect a natural result.
- Third, when the relationship with the forehead muscles is not considered
If only the glabella is suppressed without considering forehead-use habits, the eyes may look heavy or the impression may appear drooped.

Before glabella Botox, be sure to check these things
Before deciding on Botox, make sure whether they look at your facial expression directly and explain it to you,
whether they explain why this location and this dosage are being used,
and whether they check your progress and make adjustments around two weeks after the procedure.
Please be sure to confirm these three things.

Glabella Botox is a small procedure, but it can influence the overall impression of the face.
If you want to soften your appearance, a precise diagnosis should come before a quick decision,
and that difference can completely change the result.
This has been Dr. Park. Thank you.
