Hello.
I’m Dr. Park Tae-oh, chief director of Reliv Clinic.
Even after losing weight, there are cases where the body line does not change as much as expected.
You may have lost weight, but the line in certain areas such as the abdomen, upper arms, or thighs remains the same,
or the skin may even look looser, which can make you wonder, ‘Did my diet fail...?’
This phenomenon is often related not simply to fat, but to changes in skin elasticity and tissue structure.
Especially for those who have gone through childbirth or rapid weight changes,
or for those whose skin elasticity has declined with age, it can be difficult to refine the body line with exercise and dietary control alone.

One of the procedures I explain to people with these concerns is
Ulfit, a body HIFU device.
Ulfit is a lifting device that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy
to deliver thermal energy to the deep layers of the skin and subcutaneous fat layer.
While leaving the skin surface undamaged, it creates small thermal coagulation points inside,
and this process induces collagen regeneration and fat tissue contraction at the same time.

Although there may not seem to be a big change on the outside,
inside the skin, the tissue gradually becomes firmer and more organized,
so the areas that once looked loose can gradually become tighter and the body line can become smoother.
The areas where body Ulfit is mainly performed are
the abdomen, upper arms, thighs, flanks, bra line, lower area under the buttocks, and calves.
These areas often do not easily regain a defined line even after weight loss, so they are often used when both elasticity improvement and line refinement are being considered.

Another point to explain is
stretch marks.
Rather than simply considering stretch marks a color issue,
they are a state in which the tissue has been damaged as the dermis layer stretches,
so energy that stimulates the deep layers and induces collagen rearrangement may help improve stretch marks to a certain extent.
However, the degree of improvement varies from person to person depending on the skin condition.

Ulfit duration, principle, and precautions during treatment
One of Ulfit’s characteristics is
its ultrasound energy structure that acts at two different depths.
The device usually uses 6 mm and 9 mm cartridges,
which deliver energy to the subcutaneous tissue and the deeper subcutaneous fat layer, respectively.
Thermal coagulation points are formed in these two layers,
causing fat tissue to contract and promoting collagen production.
Right after the procedure, some people may feel the skin tightening slightly,
and elasticity changes usually appear gradually after about 3 to 4 weeks.
This is because collagen production and tissue reorganization continue over time.

Ulfit pain varies from person to person,
but most people describe it as a warm sensation or a mild tingling feeling.
After the procedure, temporary swelling or redness may appear,
but in general, it is recommended to undergo several sessions at intervals of about 2 weeks.

Ulfit’s duration is usually about 6 months to 1 year,
and rather than describing it as a diet procedure for weight loss, it is closer to a treatment that refines the elasticity and shape of the body line.
Therefore, to maintain the results,
combining it with dietary management and exercise is helpful.
Also, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is best to avoid the procedure,
and areas with wounds or inflammation should be treated only after recovery for safety.
Areas with metal implants may also be restricted from treatment.
For a few days after the procedure, it is best to avoid saunas, hot baths, and strenuous exercise.

What is most important to enhance the effect of Ulfit is adjusting the energy intensity and the depth of delivery.
This is because the appropriate depth and intensity must be set according to skin thickness, fat layer distribution, and elasticity condition.
Even with the same device, the results can differ depending on where it is used, how deeply it is delivered, and how much energy is applied.
If you are concerned about a decline in body-line elasticity that cannot be solved by exercise and dietary control alone,
first it is necessary to accurately check your current skin condition and tissue structure
and then decide on the method that suits you.
Thank you.
