[Restaurants Near Yeouido Station] Mu Tan Yeouido Branch — Honest Review of the Signature Chili Pepper Yulin Chicken and Macaron Menbosha. Recommended Family Restaurant with a Children's Menu and Baby Chairs!

This is Baek Director's food guide.

These days, it's difficult to eat out with a baby... (It's been several months since I lost the great pleasure of going around looking for good restaurants.) For the first time in a while, I visited a branch of Mu Tan, known as a popular restaurant in Apgujeong.

I actually visited Mu Tan in Apgujeong to try similar dishes and remember leaving a somewhat disappointed review. But after seeing that a new branch had opened in the newly built mega-building near Yeouido Station, I decided to visit.

Mu Tan Yeouido Branch

My husband and I love Chinese food. Once again, we ended up having Chinese food for our meal out today, haha.

The children's menu offered for leaving a Naver review was more substantial than expected and so good that I wanted to include it in this review as well.

Location: 2nd floor, TP Tower, 96 Uisadang-daero, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul

Parking: Parking in the building. Two hours free.

It had been a long time since I had visited Yeouido, so I didn't even know that such a large building stood at the Yeouido Station intersection!

It seems to have been completed in 2024. The building is enormous and has ample parking, so it seemed like a really good place for a family gathering.

Exterior

We parked on basement level 2, where we could already see convenient shops such as cafés and a bookstore.

The building also has plenty of elevators, so we easily took one up to the second floor with our stroller.

Once you get there, Mu Tan Yeouido Branch is very easy to find.

Interior

We visited a little late, but there were quite a lot of people.

Mu Tan Yeouido Branch is open until 10 p.m., with the last order at 8:50 p.m.

Perhaps for that reason, people continued coming in for dinner until quite late~~ Thank you for working so hard to stay open.

We visited at around 7:30 p.m., and it was a popular restaurant with more than half of the seats occupied.

All orders can be placed using the tablet on the table.

Since Mu Tan is a Chinese restaurant in Yeouido with many unique dishes, you may have a hard time deciding what to order~~

So we decided to choose from the top five most popular dishes, and after a long time, we ordered the chili pepper yulin chicken and macaron menbosha.

There was also a receipt review event. Since we were visiting with our zero-year-old baby, we decided to receive the children's menu.

You may wonder, “A Chinese restaurant has a dish that a zero-year-old baby can eat??” But it does.

Time to Eat!!!

Three basic side dishes are provided.

They are pickled yellow radish, roasted peanuts, and zha cai.

Personally, I thought the flavors were fairly ordinary. But the peanuts were delicious.

Macaron Menbosha (29,000 won)

This post was written while feeding our baby and taking photos, so there will probably be considerably fewer photos than usual. ㅠㅠ

The macaron menbosha came with three sauces. At 29,000 won, each piece costs roughly 10,000 won.

The two beautifully fried pieces of bread are packed with shrimp filling that looks ready to burst out.

There is really a lot of it. Haha.

Whichever of the three sauces you dip it in, they all complement it nicely.

The shrimp had its distinctive flavor and a springy texture, which reminded me a little of Jjeu즈, a popular restaurant on Garosu-gil that I visited last time. Haha.

It was similar to the shrimp filling in dim sum.

Still, I did feel that it could have had a little more of its own distinct character.

Chili Pepper Yulin Chicken (49,000 won)

Chili pepper yulin chicken loaded with chili peppers!!!!

This visually striking dish could be called Mu Tan's signature menu item.

Those of you who regularly read my posts may have a certain yulin chicken dish coming to mind, right? Haha.

Yes, that's right~~ You are thinking of the delicious papaya yulin chicken at Dovone Style in The Hyundai Seoul, aren't you?

Like the refreshing papaya, the chili peppers add a bright and refreshing element to yulin chicken, which can otherwise feel somewhat greasy.

I transferred some to a bowl to make it easier to eat and took a photo.

To describe it roughly, the fried chicken in the yulin chicken seemed to have a texture similar to that of popular fried chicken.

It was sweet and firm to the point of being slightly~~ excessive. Perhaps this is meant to compensate for the texture becoming soft as the sauce soaks in over time?

The green chili peppers on top were not very spicy, but the red peppers had a somewhat noticeable kick!

It was delicious. Dishes with strong, stimulating flavors are definitely tasty, haha.

Children's Menu (0 won with a Naver review)

Ah, this was unexpectedly the star of today's meal.... Haha.

This is the children's menu provided when you participate in the Naver review event.

I don't have enough experience raising children to say for sure, but to my eyes, the portion looked quite substantial.

The main items are jajangmyeon and fried rice, along with bananas, Shine Muscat grapes, and cherry tomatoes.

Our zero-year-old daughter happily ate the banana and Shine Muscat grapes when we gave them to her.

Mu Tan Yeouido Branch has spacious tables, plenty of room between tables, and baby chairs, so I thought it was a really, really good place for a family gathering.

My husband and I shared the remaining two dishes, the jajangmyeon and fried rice. The jajangmyeon was just okay, but I was surprised that the fried rice was cooked better than expected!! It felt almost too generous for a Naver review reward. ^^;;

I'll end with a photo of our daughter, who enjoyed her fruit and was excited to be out with Mom and Dad, haha.

I thought she seemed so big and heavy after reaching 10 kilograms, but she is still just a very small human...

We really enjoyed our meal again today!

Conclusion

A good Chinese restaurant for gatherings in Yeouido.

We don't often go out as a family because our child is still so young. Taking her out and coming back home leaves us completely exhausted and collapsed. ㅠㅠㅠ So I don't have much experience to draw on, but even for a first visit, I naturally felt that Mu Tan Yeouido Branch was a good place for a family gathering.

The staff were also very kind and helpful. Thanks to them, we were able to park the stroller properly and seat our baby comfortably in the baby chair... I felt very grateful~~ On top of that, although it was part of a Naver review event, I was genuinely touched by how thoughtfully the children's menu was prepared. ^^;;

The food was good enough to make me wonder why I had been so disappointed at Mu Tan in Apgujeong in the past.

The chili pepper yulin chicken, which I consider a signature dish, has a stronger flavor than expected. It is definitely delicious when you first taste it, but if two people finish a whole plate, it may start to feel a little heavy... Strong seasoning makes food tasty, but getting tired of the flavor is its downside.

The macaron menbosha looks very pretty, but the flavor is fairly ordinary. It is also somewhat expensive...

This mega-building was genuinely impressive. Haha. Parking was very easy, moving around inside the building was convenient, and it seemed like a great place to visit with a child. And it wasn't even particularly crowded...!

That said, although the food was good, the prices are somewhat high, so I don't think this is a place we could visit often. (When you think about it, perhaps the convenient facilities are reflected in the prices as well...)
