Orthodontic Lineup

Today, let’s take a look at our clinic’s orthodontic treatment lineup.

Ah, and our clinic has orthodontic specialists who trained at Severance and are here 363 days a year.

As for orthodontic treatment, once you start, you have to go through it together for 1 year and 6 months to 2 years, so who treats you and what kind of clinic concept it has are very important.

1. Invisalign

In fact, one of the big reasons I wanted to open a second clinic was precisely Invisalign.

The gold standard of clear aligners, and now the standard itself: Invisalign.

In a way, Invisalign is a cutting-edge treatment developed through collective intelligence.

Orthodontic treatment used to be done with fixed appliances, but clear aligner treatment... The downside is that you have to wear them for 20–22 hours a day.

So, especially among teenagers, both parents and children (!?) sometimes prefer fixed braces over clear aligners.

If you look at a post by Dr. Hwang Woo-chan, the chief orthodontist at our Apgujeong Rev Dental Clinic, you can clearly see the effects of Invisalign!! It really is a world where most orthodontic cases can now be treated with Invisalign clear aligners.

For adults, we mainly recommend Invisalign Full; for children, Invisalign First.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

The biggest advantage of Invisalign is, of course, that because nothing is attached to the teeth, other people don’t easily notice that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment!

But there are several other advantages as well.

First, unlike conventional appliances, which require a visit every month to replace the wire, as time goes on the interval between visits becomes longer, so you don’t have to come to the clinic as often.

(That’s great, right?)

The amount of time you spend sitting in the dental chair and receiving treatment gets shorter and shorter. Because all that’s needed is to check whether the teeth are moving well according to the plan made by the orthodontic specialist before treatment began, the time spent at the clinic is reduced.

In most cases, you can receive orthodontic treatment without even taking impressions! It’s a very neat way to do orthodontic treatment~

Since there are no appliances, there are fewer cavities and less tartar... It’s really the best. You could call it the dream orthodontic appliance, right? haha

What are the disadvantages of Invisalign?

Above all, it costs more.

Since the appliances are imported from the U.S., the cost (!?) is quite substantial...

And the wait until treatment actually begins is somewhat long. After a detailed diagnostic consultation with the orthodontist, treatment can only start after 4–6 weeks~~

Also, for people whose teeth move too slowly, it may be necessary to switch to fixed braces, which is another downside..

2. Clippy-C and Clippy-L

If you have ever considered orthodontic treatment, there are probably few people who haven’t heard of Clippy-C.

It is a ceramic orthodontic appliance made by a Japanese company called TOMY, and it has practically unified the orthodontic market in Korea.

If you go to TOMY’s main website, the first thing you’ll see is Clippy-C.

And it says 2G, right? That means second generation.

It’s a white bracket appliance, not too large and with a nice color, so it’s the basic appliance used most often.

It can be used universally in all cases that need orthodontic treatment; in other words, it is the most standardized appliance.

From a dentist’s perspective, it is designed to be easy to use, and because of its quality, orthodontic treatment progresses smoothly, so it is the most preferred appliance.

The website design feels a bit old... haha. Just think of it as being that white!

If you look at the model at our clinic, you can see that this is roughly the size of the orthodontic appliance.

It is about one-third the length of a tooth and one-third the width of a tooth, but because there is metal inside, a silver color still shows a bit~~

It is also in the top lineup above, but there is also Clippy-L. In the case of Clippy-L, it is an orthodontic appliance attached to the inner side where it cannot be seen.

This is also called lingual orthodontics.

It is attached to the inside like this. The biggest advantage is that it cannot be seen, but of course the tongue becomes quite uncomfortable. ㅠㅠ

It is true that it is hard to attach it so neatly, and maintenance is difficult as well.

And because the treatment itself is difficult, even orthodontic dentists tend to avoid lingual orthodontics..

It really is not something just anyone can do!!

But our orthodontic directors at Apgujeong Rev Dental Clinic do it very well without any trouble!

This is Clippy-L that we attached for a patient who visited our clinic for partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth!!

It’s not as large as expected, so after it was attached, the patient felt very satisfied with the result!~~

3. 3M Clarity Ultra

The last item in our Apgujeong orthodontic clinic’s orthodontic appliance lineup that I’ll introduce is

The famous Clarity Ultra from 3M.

It is a self-ligating bracket, just like Clippy-C, but the advantage of Clarity is clearly superior aesthetics.

In other words, it’s pretty! In my opinion, it was the most beautiful orthodontic appliance.

Although the appliance can feel somewhat wide like this, it is an orthodontic appliance that gives a strong impression of being completely white!

This is the product often inquired about by people who dislike even the slight silver color that can show through when using Clippy-C.

The wire is silver, but if you remove the wire even for a moment, it becomes difficult to tell whether you are really undergoing orthodontic treatment. That is also a major appeal.

3M advertises that if you use a wire coated in white, it can look this beautiful... h...

It is a little larger than Clippy-C, but I think you can think of it as showing only a little more whiteness!!

I think Sunday dental clinics are valuable.

Honestly, you don’t want to go to the hospital on a Sunday, right?..

But I thought orthodontic treatment might be manageable on Sundays, so I decided to create a Sunday dental clinic.
