I want my teeth to be brighter and more even.

She was a woman in her 20s with a beautiful smile.

Her teeth were not unattractive, but she wanted a brighter shade and more evenly aligned front teeth.

As a dentist, when I saw patients with teeth like these, I used to think that they had a fairly good bite and respectable tooth shape.

However, standards of beauty can differ significantly from person to person.

The point this patient most wanted to improve was the color of her teeth!

She wanted a shade that was white but naturally white—one that matched her personal color palette.

At the same time, this young patient wanted to even out the shape of her teeth and close the spaces between them.

How the teeth look from the side is also an important point.

If you look closely, there are also small gaps between the teeth, and she wanted to cover them as much as possible.

Some people may consider this overly particular, but facial beauty really does improve point by point as each detail is refined.

As you can see, she had undergone orthodontic treatment in the past!

It did seem that she had a nicely aligned set of teeth, but there was still a slightly uneven appearance.

In cases like this, even partial orthodontic treatment can significantly improve the alignment, but it takes some time—approximately 3–6 months—and it cannot improve the important factor of tooth color.

Of course, whitening alone can improve the color considerably, but it does not provide that… difficult-to-describe, uniform, polished appearance!

To achieve teeth with a perfect, celebrity-like appearance, ceramic laminates ultimately seem to be necessary.

Laminates are not made as quickly and simply as you might think.

The tooth color, alignment, proportions, the shape and color of the gums, skin tone, midline, and many other factors must be considered precisely.

We need to record both how the patient looks when smiling and how she looks at rest. This allows us to create laminates while imagining how her smile will appear.

It is also important to record the tooth color in advance.

As you can see, teeth do not have a uniform color. In fact, this patient’s original tooth color was relatively even.

Some areas were close to A1, while others were closer to A3.
