[Seogwipo Jungmun Restaurant] Sukseongdo Jungmun Branch — A Lunch Visit Without Waiting. Fully Equipped with Baby Chairs. Jung Yong-jin’s Jeju Pork Restaurant.

Hello.

I am Director Baek of Rev Dental, a laminate-specialty dental clinic.

At the end of this August, the three of us went on a hotel vacation to Jeju Island with our daughter!

Here is my honest review of our two-night stay—one night plus one night through a collaboration between The Parnas membership and Club Josun~

We stayed at two five-star hotels in Seogwipo’s Jungmun Tourist Complex and had a wonderful time.

There are several good restaurants near the Jungmun Tourist Complex (although it seems like people do not use that term as much anymore),

but would you believe there is a place in Jeju where you can grill pork while bringing along a one-year-old child?

The star of the show is Sukseongdo’s Jungmun branch, which moved to a new location and reopened on a much larger scale.

Sukseongdo Jungmun Branch

It was already a standalone building, but the restaurant has moved to a much larger one.

It used to be almost immediately visible after exiting the Jungmun Tourist Complex, but now you have to travel slightly west to reach it.

In return, parking is much easier, and there was no waiting~ It was genuinely great.

We visited during lunchtime, so we were able to enjoy our meal without waiting!

Siksin app rating

The Siksin app still lists the restaurant at its former location.

The address currently shown on Naver is the correct one!

As expected, it had received a star rating as a popular restaurant. It currently has one star~~

Come to think of it, I had not really thought about using the Siksin app in Jeju Island. I should use it more often from now on..

As for Sukseongdo, it is so famous that I will skip the explanation~

Exterior

The scale is truly impressive—so much so that I wondered whether a major corporation was supporting it...

The palm trees were lined up beautifully under the hot sunlight.

Family photos with the building as a backdrop come out really well.

There were several parking spaces in front of the building, but it seemed like there were many more behind it.

Interior

Imposing-looking cuts of meat were hanging up.

I wondered, “Are we really going to eat that..?”

But I suppose I will find out if I visit again, right?

The scale is so impressive that you cannot help but say, “Wow..” It is really quite large.

How should I put it.. It felt a bit like being at Costco.

There is not actually a second floor. If you look to the right, however, there is a space that appears to be floating in the air.

So~ the ceiling height here is equivalent to two floors!

Because we had a stroller, we were assigned the seat at the very end.

Apparently, that makes things easier for the serving robot~~

We arrived early, so there was no wait and we were able to sit down and eat right away. By the time we left, almost all the seats were filled.

Those who have visited Sukseongdo will know that there is almost always a wait. Personally, since the Jungmun branch is so large, I think coming here will usually mean a shorter wait..

My wife loved the beautiful view outside.

Since it was a tucked-away seat, it was also a good place to put the stroller, without inconveniencing anyone else...

I can really feel our daughter growing day by day haha

You place your order using a tablet!

It was nice arriving early because everything on the menu was still available!

So we ordered two items: 300 g of aged butterfly-style ribs (limited to 80 servings) and 360 g of aged bone-in pork neck (limited to 80 servings).

Oh, right! I took a photo of this because I liked the product. You can place it on the chair and seat your baby in it, allowing you to eat together (?!).

It was amazing that we did not need a baby chair. haha

As expected, it was charcoal-grilled! A stylish-looking grill was brought to the table.

One of Sukseongdo’s distinctive features is that, while the aged pork itself is incredibly delicious, there are also many accompanying seasonings and condiments to enjoy with it. I do not remember all of them, but the staff explained how to eat everything as well!

300 g of aged butterfly-style ribs (₩32,000, limited to 80 servings) and 360 g of aged bone-in pork neck (₩36,000, limited to 80 servings)

The two kinds of meat arrived together!! You could tell at a glance that the meat looked fresh.

You can easily see that the butterfly-style ribs are on the left and the bone-in pork neck is on the right, right?

The staff grilled the meat so skillfully that all we had to do was wait and eat.

All we had to do was keep an eye on our fussy one-year-old.

It is always fun to watch meat cook.

The ventilation worked so well and removed the smoke so effectively that the restaurant was very pleasant.

Kimchi stew arrived while we were waiting.

The broth was packed with a rich meaty flavor.

As it cooked, it seemed less and less like ordinary meat.

It was not the ordinary, simple shape of meat bought at a department store or supermarket, but rather felt like a work of art.

Maybe it felt that way because we were eating at an expensive restaurant. . .

In any case, they grilled it so beautifully and artistically ^^

Bone-in pork neck and butterfly-style ribs.

As you would expect from aged pork, you could really taste the distinctive aroma of pork.

Personally, I like this kind of meat, so it suited my taste very well!

The meat was so good that I completely forgot about my favorite restaurant, Geum돼지 Sikdang.

I think I understand why people keep talking about Sukseongdo~ haha

This was a one-of-a-kind Sukseongdo special bite prepared by the staff member grilling our meat.

Personally, the combination of pollack roe? and wasabi was my absolute favorite.

It was an excellent aged pork barbecue that tasted better with every bite.

It was completely different from the tremendous disappointment I felt at the pork restaurant launched by Mr. Baek Jong-won two years ago...

Come to think of it, they had thoughtfully arranged the meat so that the word “Sukseongdo” would be visible when photographed... Next-level presentation...

We discovered the self-service area on our way out. hahaha

As you all know, when you go out to eat with a baby, you do not really have the time or energy to serve yourself more side dishes from a self-service area. ^^

The other families around us also ate quickly and headed out...

On the way out, I noticed a photo of Chairman Jung Yong-jin together with the owner of Sukseongdo~

I thought it suited the impressive restaurant. Could they be opening a location in Starfield soon...? hahaha

We had another truly delicious meal today.!!!

Conclusion

When I go to Jeju Island: Sukseongdo, Gojipdol Ureok. And what else should I eat..

It is simply an incredibly delicious place.

I think I would recommend it to anyone who asked! I consider it a truly excellent restaurant.

I hear the Hamdeok branch has a beautiful view, but the wait is supposed to be enormous, so I think I will end up visiting the Jungmun branch often.

A spacious, comfortable barbecue restaurant where you can grill meat and bring a baby along. It is simply the top choice ^^

If I had to compare the taste, I would say it is similar to the meat at Geum돼지 Sikdang in Seoul.

In my opinion, Sukseongdo has better flavor. Please try it if you can.

If you are staying in the Jungmun Tourist Complex, this will really become an essential stop.

I did think a little about the value for money. I do not eat a lot, but two servings were enough for my wife and me! Since the total came to less than ₩80,000 including the stew and rice, I think it is worth treating yourself if you can enjoy pork of this quality. It is genuinely hard to find a place like this~
