[Vista Walkerhill Restaurant] Myeongwolgwan - A Challenge with the Lunch Special Assorted Selection! (Feat. Heritage Reserve Membership Benefits)

Hello.

This is Baek, the director of Reve Dental Clinic, Lamineate, Sinsa Station.

One of the credit cards I was most recently issued is the KB Heritage Reserve.

I’ve been doing a bit of subtle promotion through several posts. Haha.

One of the few cards that lets a family of three use airport lounge benefits!!

The annual fee is 800,000 won, but if you make good use of the 600,000 won voucher, it can help with keeping things in order... I used my 600,000 won voucher to get a Walkerhill membership..

It’s explained in detail here, but what Heritage Reserve provides is a 500,000 won oak mixed-type membership. I tried to persuade them to give me only a dining voucher without the room-use voucher, but they wouldn’t do it. So in the end, I received a 500,000 won membership (200,000 won dining voucher + 1 night at Grand Walkerhill), which was an absolutely brutal deal..... You should get Parnas instead....

Anyway, I got it, so I have to use it, right? So here’s my review of Myeongwolgwan.

Is there anywhere else where you can grill beef at a 5-star hotel? So it does feel more special.

This is my review of having grilled beef for lunch at the famous Myeongwolgwan.

One of Myeongwolgwan’s invisible advantages: they take valet parking right in front. That’s the most convenient point when visiting with children or elderly family members.

Vista Walkerhill supports valet parking with many credit cards, so if you look it up before visiting, it shouldn’t be hard to find one!

Lunch starts at 12:00. It looked like many people were ordering à la carte meals. We went at 12:30... and there was a wait. Number 9, to be exact. We waited about 15 minutes, but the turnover is fast.

I couldn’t capture the outside view properly, but it’s more of a view spot than I expected!

That was the seat we were shown to. The embroidery with the word “Myeongwolgwan” was so pretty that I took a photo. Haha. The menu was on a tablet.

A Myeongwolgwan menu that was fun to flip through. I chose the Myeongwolgwan Special Assorted Selection. Whatever the menu or course, if you have a Walkerhill membership, you get a 20% discount.

The prices are out of this world... Myeongwolgwan’s menu... The assorted platter is 770,000 won for 880g... The premium hanwoo is 370,000 won for 500g...

I just admire them. Haha. Myeongwolgwan’s table setting and lunch-only special seemed reasonably priced too... but we still went with the lunch special with more meat.

À la carte items and meal dishes! It seemed like many people were ordering hanwoo galbitang. If it’s 42,000 won and you get 20% off, that comes to 33,600 won... I think hanwoo galbitang is the best option for using the membership...!

Meal starts!!!

The side dishes came out first. Starting with raw skate seasoned with vegetables, acorn jelly, seasoned boiled squid, and cucumber salad. The cold side dishes were pretty good.

The charcoal came in, and it was the prettiest charcoal I’d ever seen...! A log cut into four sections... was so pretty that I took a photo.

Lunch Special Assorted Selection (330,000 won)

With mushrooms stamped with the Myeongwolgwan mark, the very fresh-looking beef came out, and we had a photo time. The color of the hanwoo really is beautiful.

This is tenderloin and flat iron steak. The staff member grilling the meat was very kind, so I just enjoyed watching. It was so fresh that it really felt like it had just been slaughtered;; A bit brutal, but... it looked overly fresh...

Doesn’t the meat look incredibly appetizing as it cooks? By the way... the pumpkin and onion there were truly the peak of freshness.

One was flat iron, the other tenderloin. The flat iron had a strong beef flavor. But instead of the fatty richness from marbling, it had more of a muscular taste than expected. The tenderloin had a surprisingly thick cut, so I was surprised by its chewy texture.

The cold noodle dish that came out while we were waiting. I was surprised that there was so little noodles. Still, the noodles were pleasantly chewy, and once mixed, they loosened up smoothly in a way that was impressive. The broth had a very nice feeling, like it had been simmered by boiling beef bones.

Next came the doenjang stew! There was a crab inside that wasn’t small, and thanks to it, the soup had a deep, rich flavor. The vegetables and tofu were good too... in the end, I finished the whole stew and scraped the bottom.

The round, pretty cut of meat that came next was sirloin. The Myeongwolgwan lettering is impressive too, right..? Haha.

The sirloin was unquestionably delicious, and the mushrooms and pumpkin grilled with it were also really excellent!

The last were brisket point and beef tongue. I thought the texture of the brisket point was more springy than expected, and the beef tongue was well seasoned. Beef tongue can taste a bit off if it’s undercooked, but the more it cooks, the deeper the texture and flavor feel.

The meal ended neatly with a clean-looking dessert. It looked a bit modest... but the cherry and persimmon were quite good. And after eating everything, finishing with a cup of ginseng tea really wraps up the meal... haha.

We really, really enjoyed our meal today!!! Conclusion

For the only 5-star hotel Korean beef restaurant, um...

We had a delicious meal. The lunch special assortment was 330,000 won...

We visited as two people and got a 20% discount, so it came to 264,000 won. There was a 200,000 won voucher in the Walkerhill membership, so we only paid 64,000 won.

Personally, I think whether it was worth 132,000 won per person... needs a bit of thought. It should be the kind of meal where an exclamation of “Wow, that’s amazing!” comes the moment you put it in your mouth!!! Was it at that level? Hmm.. Maybe I’m just not very good at distinguishing flavors. ^^;

Anyway, it was my first time at Myeongwolgwan, and the scenery was so nice, the relaxed atmosphere was so nice... Next time, I think I’ll go on a cold day to try the galbitang. And... once my baby passes 36 months, they’ll be counted as one person, and when my daughter turns 36 months, maybe I can get a 33% discount .. I found myself thinking that ^^;;

Walkerhill has many dining establishments. So if you have a membership, I guess you’ll try Ondal, Geumryong, The Buffet, Myeongwolgwan, and Moegi one by one, right? Haha. I visited Myeongwolgwan first because it was the one I most wanted to try, and it was just so-so....ㅎ.... Next time... I think I might go for galbitang or visit Pizza Hill. I also think the 20% discount on the bakery is really great. That’s why my friends who live in Gangdong go there a lot... I thought. Haha.
