Hello.
This is Baek Wonjang’s Mugschelin.
On New Year’s Day, I went out with my wife to Park Hyatt. It had been a few months, in its own way..
THE LOUNGE on the lobby floor of Park Hyatt is one of my favorite restaurants.
I had posted about it before and I think I’ve been there three or four times. Haha
But!! Since it was January 1, it was fully booked.. so we ended up going to The Timber House.
It turned out to be a more pleasant space than I expected, so I wanted to introduce it in this post. ^^

Park Hyatt Seoul The Timber House
I visited around 5:30 p.m., and as it turned out, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. they offer something called Happy Hour (GROOVE HOUR), during which they provide several menu items at almost half price.
So I ended up trying almost all of the happy hour menu items (!).

There was still a little bit of Christmas atmosphere left at the entrance.
It had this feeling like.. something impressive would be waiting if I opened the door!

When you go inside, a stylish space opens up.
We visited around 5:30 p.m., and.. there was nobody there at the time.....!!!
It seemed like reservations were possible, and they let us choose whichever seat we wanted.
There was also a space that felt like sushi omakase counter seating, and although I couldn’t capture everything in the photos, the interior design using roof tiles was impressive, as was the decor with grass, firewood, and a carrying frame reminiscent of traditional Korean thatched-roof houses.
Of course.. it was a little disappointing that, in such a very modern space, things that symbolize Korea were represented by those kinds of items.

Since they have live music, there is also a space for singing!!
And there were some bottles of liquor kept on one side...

I don’t know whose they were, but it was fascinating to see whiskeys priced at 5 million and 10 million won right in front of me. Haha
Yamazaki 12-year and 18-year, and the like, just felt like mass-produced soju..ㅋㅋ

They told us that from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. it was The Timber House’s GROOVE HOUR, and handed us a smaller menu.
They said we could think of it as happy hour~~
All of the items were regular menu items, and the prices looked to be discounted by roughly 30–50%.
So... since we were already there, we decided to try everything.

The regular menu has a record-shaped cover,
and this place has a pretty extensive selection of alcohol! It’s not a place to come for a full meal, but more like a spot to come for round two~~~

As soon as we ordered, some light snacks and a bottle of Guinness draft beer appeared!
The Suntory draft beer was 19,000 won. After I went “whoa,” I ordered this one, and it was 9,500 won.

Overall, the turnover was fast.
The dishes came out all at once, so let’s look at them one by one!

Seasoned Chicken Gangjeong (20,000 won)
This is chicken gangjeong worth a full 20,000 won.
It was closer to fried chicken. Very well fried...
I think there were about 5 pieces.. and roughly that many rice cakes too..?
The taste was fine, but the portion was small. If I think about the half-and-half chicken at Andaz Seoul’s Jogakbo that I visited recently, there was a big differenceㅠ

The Timber House Tteokbokki (22,000 won)
This is tteokbokki that costs over 20,000 won. Enough to feed at least five people, and then some.
The combination of soft rice cakes like joraengi tteok and mozzarella cheese was impressive.
The grilled fish cake was tasty too, but the fried shrimp in the center was very crispy and delicious!
Looking at the full menu, there’s also a mixed tempura platter (?!), and this was one of the items included in it.
It was really delicious. It made me expect Japanese food.

A tonkatsu sando priced at 5,500 won per piece.
Hmm.. it was tasty, but I thought it was a bit expensive.

Seafood Okonomiyaki (20,000 won)
This one was good! The crisp, finely shredded cabbage gave it such a nice texture.
I remember this as the menu item I liked the most. ^^

Matcha Monaka (8,000 won)
I finished with matcha monaka...
It felt like I had enjoyed an omakase meal...ㅎㅎ
We really ate well again today.!!!
Conclusion
The atmosphere is nice and the food is good, but it is expensive!
My wife and I are fond of Park Hyatt. haha
It has this urban, modern feel, the service is good, and the food tastes great.
So in Seoul, we sometimes go there for meals, and in Busan, we sometimes go there to hang out!
The Timber House, which we happened to stop by this time, also created a very nice atmosphere, and I appreciated that.
Even though we visited during happy hour and ate, it still came to around 100,000 won for two people, so I can’t say it was cheap—but if you think of it as paying for the seating...
It seems like this is a place to use not for filling up your stomach, but for wrapping up a meet-up as a second round. Haha
I don’t drink beer, so by using my Hyundai the First card, I was able to earn not only points but also extra rewards quite nicely.
There are many credit cards that offer free valet parking~ haha

Value for money: ★★★☆☆
Accessibility: ★★★★★
Facilities: ★★★★★
Parking: Free valet available with credit card. (3 hours)
The only downside seems to be that it’s a bit expensive. I understand that it’s a 5-star hotel, so the price makes sense, but the portions...!....
You might be surprised at first. hahaha
If you go for a second round, it’ll probably be fine :) Next time I go, I’d like to enjoy one drink after another ^^
