[Vista Walkerhill Restaurant] Myeongwolgwan - One Slice of Chadolbagi for 15,000 Won!? A Lunch of Grilled Beef and a Comparison with Waryeok..

Hello.

I’m Baek Won-jang from Leve Dental Clinic in Sinsa Station.

The most recently made credit card I have is the KB Heritage Reserve.

One of the benefits is that it offers hotel memberships, so I got the Walkerhill Prestige because I wanted to try dining at Myeongwolgwan with a discount.

So here’s the first visit review!

My wife and I spent 330,000 won on the lunch set, but the satisfaction level was lower than expected...

And then, the relatively recent visit to Waryeok!

They say a cold noodle restaurant has great grilled beef too.. it felt like the kind of place that shows what Korean beef really is!!

It was really, very, very delicious.

Myeongwolgwan

Couldn’t lose, right? Myeongwolgwan has a name to live up to.

So I tried going to Myeongwolgwan and ordering cuts similar to what I had at Waryeok.

In the meantime, chadolbagi was really ridiculously expensive..

You know they take valet parking right in front of Myeongwolgwan, right? That’s part of the charm too~

It’s very convenient ㅎㅎ. Once you get hooked on valet parking, it’s hard to go back...

Exterior

I’m getting older day by day. Since today is the youngest I’ll ever be, I’m taking a photo.

Vista Walkerhill Myeongwolgwan also has a lot of partnered credit cards for valet parking.

Honestly, most credit cards are accepted, so definitely make use of it.

Interior

Last time I didn’t take the interior photos very well.

As soon as you walk in, you’ll see a nicely displayed selection of liquor.

And on the left, in a very clean open kitchen, pieces of beef with a rich red color are prepared one by one.

Even though I had made a reservation in advance, I couldn’t get a window seat.

Still, my wife was seated where she could see outside the window.

The embroidered “Myeongwolgwan” lettering was something I also really liked last time...

Come to think of it, maybe we should embroider lettering on the cloth that covers our dental clinic’s face too~ ㅎㅎ

Meal time begins!!!

The menu is on a tablet, so I’ll introduce the dishes we ordered in order.

The pre-meal set table is very neat and tasty.

Seasoned skate is already delicious by nature, so no explanation is needed..

The potato salad and sautéed eggplant were also more than tasty enough to stimulate the appetite.

The charcoal fire came out first and was preheating,

but it looks even more impressive in photos.

A good charcoal fire is what makes a good yakiniku place, isn’t it~ ㅎㅎ Since it’s Myeongwolgwan, this much is only right!..

The first item to come out was chadolbagi.

One serving is 150 g for 75,000 won.

So that comes out to 15,000 won per slice. What a look..

The staff member grills five pieces in a surprisingly quick pace (!)

They’re grilled quickly for you.

And they’re grilled together with seasoned vegetables..

They wrap it up neatly for you like this.

You can just pop it into your mouth in one bite.

There’s no way it could taste bad. When something is expensive, almost anything tastes good..

Next came the sirloin and marinated rib fingers.

As expected of meat grilled at a 5-star hotel, when the cut changes, they also change the grill plate.

Truly luxurious~

The visuals of the raw sirloin and marinated rib fingers are excellent.

Everything shown above is one serving each. Even if you only order one serving, they keep changing the grill plate. So you can fully enjoy the flavor of each cut on its own...

The raw sirloin is 180 g per serving for 103,000 won.

At last, Korean beef is now over 100,000 won per serving.

To think I got to eat meat like this... living long really does pay off~..

From start to finish, they grill everything for you, so you can just watch the sirloin cook.

Rather than having lots of marbling, I’d say this raw sirloin feels more muscular.

So I took a bite,

and thought about the one I had at Waryeok last week.

If Waryeok is closer to the rich, fatty, nutty flavor we associate with Korean beef, Myeongwolgwan is lighter and has a taste closer to prime American beef, with juices bursting out every time you chew.

Of course, tastes will vary, but personally, I was more satisfied with Waryeok. ㅎㅎ

Last is the marinated rib fingers..

1 serving is 200 g for 78,000 won.

As you can see from my previous post, compared with Waryeok’s diced (!) marinated rib fingers, these look relatively ordinary. ㅎㅎㅎ

In my opinion, Myeongwolgwan’s marinated rib fingers had a more subtle nuttiness, savoriness, and sense of refinement.

If you like intense K-style marinated rib fingers, you’ll probably prefer Waryeok’s marinated rib fingers over these. ㅎㅎ

The doenjang stew and bibim naengmyeon, respectively, as meal dishes.

Each is 17,000 won. The price... ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ If you order the doenjang stew, a bowl of rice comes with it.

The portions weren’t large, but the doenjang stew was still excellent and delicious, while the bibim naengmyeon seemed relatively ordinary.

If I were to eat here again... I think I’d choose the doenjang stew ^^;

I always finish with dessert...

The ginseng tea gave the feeling of warming up my stomach, and the pineapple was more delicious than expected.

The strawberry was tarter than expected, and the half piece of bread? rice paper? was average in taste.

We ate very deliciously again today.!!!

Conclusion

Myeongwolgwan.. somehow feels a little lacking. ㅠㅠ

Personally, I’m not someone who can confidently say I know beef very well.....ㅎㅎㅎ...

So I feel embarrassed to make a judgment, but if we’re talking about the rich, melt-in-your-mouth flavor of Korean beef that we know, Waryeok’s beef seems much tastier.

Just as Kobe beef boasts a texture and flavor that melts in your mouth.. Waryeok somehow feels more in line with the true nature of Korean beef...

Myeongwolgwan’s grilled beef is of course delicious, but as you eat it, you start thinking, “For this high-end price... this much?” ㅠㅠ It somehow feels a little lacking.........

I feel sorry to say this to Myeongwolgwan, but next time I go, I think I’ll try the galbitang.

My home is in Yongsan, so Walkerhill is quite far! ㅠㅠ

Going all the way here just to eat Myeongwolgwan’s meat feels like quite a trip, and it was a disappointing day because it felt like there wasn’t much gain...

I think I spent about 240,000 won after the discount, and I’ll probably hold back a bit more on Myeongwolgwan from now on ㅠㅠ

When the weather gets better, I think Walkerhill will be a place to go with my child to play at the swimming pool. ㅎㅎㅎ
