This is Baek Director from Leve Dental, a teeth-whitening dental clinic; this is Baek Director’s food review.

This is a Mediterranean restaurant I introduced before, and I visited again after a long time. Just looking at the thumbnail below makes it look delicious, right..? hehe

When people say Mediterranean food, it may sound quite unfamiliar, but there is a place in the middle of Seoul where you can feel the taste of Europe. This is Baek Director’s post for those who have not heard of it yet.

Mondrian Seoul Itaewon Cleo (Cleo)

It has been almost two years since my last post, but it is still popular and the food was excellent. This time, I’m sharing my review after enjoying Mediterranean-style pizza and beef kebab.!!

Location: 1st floor, Mondrian Seoul Itaewon, 23 Jangmun-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Parking: Valet available.

It is a bit difficult to get to on foot. If you get off at Itaewon Station and walk, it will take quite a while... They are generous with valet parking, so come by car.

There is a Coffee Bean on the first floor, and valet parking is available even if you only use Coffee Bean. Anyway, our destination is Cleo on the first floor.

Exterior

Mondrian Seoul Itaewon feels pleasant the moment you step inside.

As a French brand, it has a distinctly European feel. Because of that, there are many European guests too... I heard it is one of the hotels in Korea with the highest proportion of foreign guests.

Interior

I visited on a weekend evening, and my first impression as soon as I walked in was... there are a lot of foreigners!!

The staff were also extremely fluent in English... they looked really cool. hehe Once you sit down, they explain things professionally.

This is the menu at Cleo, the Mediterranean cuisine restaurant at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon.

In fact, most of the menu items have names that, even if you read them, you may not really know what they mean. A tip: look at posts from people who have visited Cleo on Naver and show the photos. Then they will help you find the menu items. hehe

We came because we wanted beef kebab, so we ordered right away! And we also ordered a lamb pizza called Tantuni Pide. I had been really craving lamb... and the menu sounded super, super exciting.

Starting the meal!!!

Tantuni Pide (36,000 won)

It looks a bit like a pizza stretched out from the kind we know. It has a bit of cheese visible, and the fresh-looking tomatoes and onions on top are neatly sliced and arranged beautifully!

Did you notice the curved blade placed on the upper right...? hehe The staff use that knife to cut it so nicely like this.

When you cut into the Tantuni Pide, the lamb starts to become visible, and although it looks firm, it absolutely is not.

Just as I, the dad, would naturally eat the eel’s tail (!), I picked up the edge of the Tantuni Pide first. Actually, I chose this part because I didn’t want to give the tough part to my wife... but what a surprise! The dough was so soft and delicious!?!?!? It really tastes like the kind that makes you forget about most wood-fired pizzas. I didn’t expect it to be this good...

The lamb aroma is rich, and the chewy tomatoes and onions add a refreshing note. If you eat it with the tangy sauce served alongside, that’s when it becomes complete... seriously the best.!!

Beef Kebab (34,000 won)

The second star is the beef kebab. The price is about the same for both dishes. It comes skewered, and after taking a photo, the staff take the skewer away.

Once it is taken off the skewer, it looks roughly like this. You eat it by combining the two sauces appropriately.

With the rich aroma of beef and those beautifully grilled pieces, it is heavenly when you eat them with both the red sauce and the white sauce.

Do you see the beef on the left? It’s grilled perfectly... As shown on the right, you need to eat it with the dedicated sauce for the flavor to become truly rich.

It is a feast of diverse, exotic sauces and aromas that is hard to describe in words. It feels like anyone would think it tastes delicious? hehe

Saffron Fried Rice (9,000 won)

I couldn’t find it on the menu, so I don’t know the exact name... They also serve plain white rice, but I wanted to order something that looked a bit more special, so I chose this one. hehe

It contains raisins and nuts, which makes the flavor quite layered and unique. This is also warm, and as you keep eating it, it makes you feel good! hehe

We really, really enjoyed our meal today too.!!!

Conclusion

Mediterranean cuisine that is hard to come by. Enjoy Cleo with an Accor Plus discount.

I’ve recently become more interested in Accor X Woori Card, and I heard that if you have the Accor Explore Plus membership here, you can get a 30% discount. The prices aren’t outrageously high to begin with, but with a 30% discount, it’s truly a great deal.

Just being able to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a 5-star hotel feels like a blessing. In Korea, because it is not as widely associated with “must-eat” prestige, most 5-star hotels center around Japanese, Chinese, Western, or even Korean cuisine... Mondrian Hotel is thankfully maintaining this wonderful restaurant without change.

Cleo still offers generous portions and still serves delicious, exotic food. You really should visit at least once!

Mondrian Seoul Itaewon also accepts plenty of valet parking. It is a bit inconvenient to get there on foot, but if you come by car, you’ll be able to use it very comfortably. It’s no secret that you can grab a cup of coffee across the street at Coffee Bean and chat for a while ^^ Cleo, our beloved Mediterranean restaurant. Everyone, stop by and enjoy it~! Highly recommended. hehe
