[Grand Mercure Seoul Dragon City] FEI - A quiet Chinese restaurant where I enjoyed sweet and sour pork and jajangmyeon. Accor Plus 20% discount review.

This is Baek Won-jang’s food review.

Recently, after getting the Accor Infinity Woori Card, I became interested in the appeal of the Accor Plus membership that is automatically included with it.

So I had been posting more about Ambassador Seoul Pullman,

and in the case of 1955 Groceria, they offer a 30% discount and the food is quite good, so I found myself going there often.

Anyway, we should all be smart consumers, right? Today, I visited a different restaurant.

FEI at Seoul Dragon City

Location: Cheongpa-ro 20-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Parking: Valet available.

You know that large building connected to Yongsan Station, shaped like a sideways “ㄹ,” right?

It is a complex made up of three Accor hotels, from west to east: Grand Mercure - ibis - Novotel.

Today’s destination is FEI at Seoul Dragon City, located on the 2nd floor of the Grand Mercure building.

There are so many names and they’re so confusing that I wasn’t sure what to call it either.. haha.

Exterior

To get to the 2nd floor of Grand Mercure, you can either go out from the 1st-floor lobby and walk around, or go up to the 2nd floor of ibis where there is a connecting passage.

Anyway, the hotel entrance was even neater and cleaner than I expected! It says FEI.

Interior

The photo on the right shows the liquor storage area, which you see as soon as you walk in.

I couldn’t look closely, but maybe they handle all the menu items...?!

We went a little late in the evening, so there were no people around and it was quiet... It felt like a hideout, which I really loved!!

When we were shown to our seat, it was a private room with an L-shaped seating arrangement where the two of us could spend time very quietly. So touching~!

I didn’t take a photo of the menu, but when we ordered 2 dishes and 1 main, they warned us that it would be too much food...

So in the end, we settled on sweet and sour pork + jajangmyeon.

Oh, right! The benefit many of you are probably curious about: if you have Accor Plus, you get a 20% discount.

The original prices aren’t even that expensive, but with the discount.. the price becomes really reasonable!

Let the meal begin!!!

It’s simply neat.

As expected of a Chinese restaurant in a 5-star hotel, the service and presentation were high quality.

The roasted peanuts were tasty.

Seeing three side dishes in total — wood ear mushrooms and jja-sae (pickled mustard stems) included — it was clearly a proper formal Chinese restaurant.

The pu’er tea tasted good. If you ask, they also bring cold water separately.

Black Pork Sweet and Sour Pork (60,000 won)

What I wanted today was to dip well-fried pork in a sweet sauce and eat it exactly like that.

Hehe... so I went with sweet and sour pork..

Actually, there was a bit of a story here. We originally ordered a combo of chili shrimp + sweet and sour pork + jajangmyeon, but the staff told us it was too much....

So we changed it to chili shrimp + jajangmyeon, but by mistake, sweet and sour pork + jajangmyeon was served.

But it seemed a waste to throw away perfectly good sweet and sour pork, and I also really wanted to eat it, so I said it was fine. As a thank-you, the manager gave us dessert.

(It comes later, hehe)

Of course, for sweet and sour pork to be delicious, the fried pork has to be excellent, right?

It wasn’t quite at the level of the incredibly impressive one I had recently at Myeongdong Sandonggyoja,

but it was still a very good sweet and sour pork with that crispy outside and tender inside texture.

Usually I enjoy it the way the chef recommends, but today there was no special instruction, so I tried dipping the sauce.

Looks delicious, right? It really was delicious.

The sweet and sour pork was excellent.

60,000 won - 20%... that comes out to 48,000 won, and I was very satisfied.

Hanwoo Samsun Jajang (21,000 won)

They split one bowl of Hanwoo Samsun Jajang into two servings for us.

If you look closely, you can see the meat on top of the jajangmyeon.

The tender Hanwoo beef that melts in your mouth goes into your mouth along with the noodles, which feels really nice.

The noodles were springy, so I thought they had a bit of a fresh pasta feel.

Good, good!

We were actually fine, but the manager kindly gave us dessert at the end, saying thank you for understanding!

It was a dessert made from blended lychee, and wow, it was quite sweet with a really nice aftertaste.

It was a perfect finishing touch after eating Chinese food, which can only be oily.

We really, really enjoyed the meal today too.!!!

Conclusion

Accor Plus is amazing!?!?

The Accor Infinity Woori Card I made recently.

Actually, while operating two Marriott credit cards and one Hilton credit card and receiving Platinum/Diamond tiers for each, the annual spending required exceeds 100 million won.

So I had been thinking I wouldn’t make any more... but as the won-to-dollar and won-to-euro exchange rates rose, the Accor Infinity Woori Card somehow became a card that’s worth getting just by making it.....

I studied hard and got it, and the additional services it offers are better than I expected, so I’m very satisfied.

Just by using the discount with Accor Plus at an Accor hotel... it makes me think you may not need many hotel memberships after all.

At FEI, the Chinese restaurant at Grand Mercure Seoul Yongsan, we ordered only one dish and one main, but there really wasn’t a shortage in quantity. The sweet and sour pork fully satisfied the deliciousness I imagined, and the jajangmyeon was also good. And on top of that, there was a 20% discount...

Parking: Valet available.

One of the biggest reasons to use a hotel restaurant is the convenience of valet parking. The second is that, when you use a membership, you can enjoy it at a reasonable price. Today, after eating 60,000-won sweet and sour pork and 21,000-won jajangmyeon, I spent 64,800 won... so you could say the jajangmyeon was almost like a bonus.

If you enjoy it like this in Nonhyeon-dong at Hongmyeong, it comes to somewhere in the low 40,000 won range. Valet fee is separate...

For the price of eating quietly at a refined place without waiting, it was really somewhere I’d strongly recommend.

(However, Accor points cannot be earned.)
