Hello.

This is Dr. Baek from Reve Dental Clinic at Sinsa Station, a mecca for teeth whitening.

I seem to have been going to restaurants at Lotte Hotel Seoul quite a lot lately.

It’s close by, and the food is good too — a place that really has no shortcomings!

I previously introduced it as a great place for futomaki. Haha.

Today’s post is a visit to Dorim, a Chinese restaurant.

Lotte Hotel Seoul Dorim​

Location: 37F, Main Tower, 30 Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul

Parking: Valet parking available. (Free parking for 3 hours)

As far as I know, on weekends valet parking is provided even if you don’t have a partner credit card. (If not, please let me know.)

Otherwise, if you have a partner credit card that offers free valet service, no problem!!

Interior

If I had made a reservation in advance, I could have secured a window seat...

Just like my previous visit to Momoyama, I came as a walk-in today, so only a hall seat was available. ㅠㅠ

There were four of us eating together, and we ordered four dishes and two main dishes.

The main dishes were each divided in half, so we could share them among the four of us.

My wife wanted the special assorted cold appetizers. They turned out to be much better than expected. I think I’ll be coming back for these often!

For the second dish, we chose the Cantonese sweet and sour pork. I like it, after all...^^

You know Lotte Hotel Seoul Dorim is famous for its chili prawns, right?

They’re really crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess. I really, really love them. You get 10 pieces in total.

I also tried the eggplant and shrimp with fish-fragrance sauce. It was a new menu item, and it was my first time trying it today!!

It’s a dish made by mincing shrimp, wrapping it in eggplant, deep-frying it, and coating it with sauce.

After some debate, we ended up ordering jajangmyeon and jjamppong.

My wife and I ordered one abalone seafood jjamppong and split it in half.

The staff prepared the table quickly and neatly in perfect coordination.

The zha cai is tasty too, but I think I like the roasted peanuts at Dorim in Lotte Hotel the best.

They’re so good that I keep eating them, and then eating more~ Come to think of it, I think the peanuts were the best at Signiel Club too.. haha.

Special Assorted Cold Appetizers (₩100,000 -> ₩80,000)

Since we could get a Trevi Club discount, I’m also noting the 20% discounted price.

A generous portion of jellyfish salad is provided, and the lineup of scallop - abalone - shrimp - sliced pork is outstanding.

Wow, it had been a while since I had really delicious Chinese-style cold appetizers.

The scallop in particular had incredible flavor... It felt like it had been seasoned separately somehow.

From the sliced pork that tasted like it belonged in oejang-jangjorim-style dishes to the abalone packed with rich abalone flavor...

These are the kinds of dishes that make you say, “Wow, this is delicious!” the moment you take a bite.

Highly recommended!

Eggplant and Shrimp with Fish-Fragrance Sauce (₩68,000 -> ₩54,400)

Oh, and one of the nice things is that all menu items are divided appropriately according to the number of people.

How should I put it... it feels like eating a customized course meal?

So the eggplant and shrimp with fish-fragrance sauce I received came as 2 pieces.

As mentioned earlier, it’s a dish made by wrapping minced shrimp in eggplant, coating it in batter, and frying it.

It was a bit hot, so it wasn’t easy to eat in one bite... but it had the taste and texture of minced shrimp inside a har gow.

I think the eggplant is there for the pretty presentation... and the sweet sauce fills your mouth with the flavor of shrimp.

Sounds tasty, right?

Yep.

Chili Prawn (₩85,000 -> ₩68,000)

One of my all-time favorite dishes: chili prawn.

A total of 10 pieces are served, so two people get 3 pieces each and two people get 2 pieces each.

I was happy to get the 3-piece share...

No need to say more — it’s a memorable dish. You really should try it.

Cantonese Sweet and Sour Pork (₩75,000 -> ₩60,000)

If 4 pieces of sweet and sour pork come out for 15,000 won, which is one-fourth of 60,000 won, it should naturally just be delicious......

It was well fried, and the sauce was nicely sweet and tasty. You really can’t go wrong.

For some reason, I don’t really like sweet and sour beef much... I guess my palate isn’t refined...ㅠㅠ

Isn’t going to a Chinese restaurant all about eating this sweet flavor? Haha.

Sweet and sour pork is always right.

No matter how many other menu items are worth trying, sweet and sour pork is truly... always the answer in my book..

Abalone Seafood Jjamppong (₩43,000 -> ₩34,400)

Even with the Trevi Club discount, this is still well over 30,000 won for half a bowl of jjamppong.

What stands out is the generously topped large abalone.

The broth is quite rich. It may even feel slightly MSG-like, but I liked this deep, full broth. In any case, it was a spicy jjamppong with a thick broth that was exactly to my taste.

We really, really enjoyed our meal today!!!

Conclusion

I promised myself that next time I would definitely try new menu items...

As far as hotel memberships go, Lotte Hotel’s Trevi Club really does seem like one that lets you get your money’s worth no matter when you join!..

The 20% discount on the lounge and bakery is already generous... and the valet parking is so well organized that it’s always impressive... and when I visit, I can’t help but stop by Lotte Department Store as well.^^

Anyway, we happened to visit Dorim not long after that. I had tried a course meal there once a long time ago, but I think I liked choosing dishes like this more than eating a set course.

The most memorable dish, unexpectedly, was the special assorted cold appetizers. For those reading this post, I’d recommend trying it at least once.^^
