Would veneers be better, or would teeth whitening be better?

When you want to improve yellowish teeth, I recommend trying teeth whitening first without question.

It can make your own teeth look brighter without damaging them.

White teeth go well with pretty lips!! Even in nearby Japan, teeth whitening is widely recognized as a dental treatment.

However, a downside of teeth whitening is that there is a clear limit to how much each tooth can be brightened (because of sensitivity), and over time it tends to return somewhat. To address these two drawbacks, there is a treatment called veneers.

Today, while looking at about five cases of whitening patients, I’m putting up a post to help you get a sense of what teeth whitening can achieve.

If you’re in your 20s, you can think of whitening as something that works quite well for you.

At our clinic, we have performed tens of thousands of teeth whitening treatments, and it definitely tends to work better when patients are younger.

At this point, the tooth color is around A3.

This is a clinical photo after three sessions of Trinity whitening.

Roughly speaking, the center seems to be around A2, and the sides around A1.

You may think it looks a little patchy, but this is due to differences in tooth translucency.

If you capture the intraoral environment in a photo, the black inside the mouth behind the teeth comes through, and the sides of relatively translucent teeth can appear black.

But when teeth are whitened, they become even more translucent, so the sides can actually look darker.

Still, in reality, they become brighter and more translucent—sparkle is a bonus.

I think this is a typical Korean tooth shape and color.

Usually, the body area tends to have stronger yellow tones, while the closer you get to the edge, the more white/translucent it becomes.

As mentioned earlier, that is why when you take a photo, the ends can look almost black. In reality, they are translucent.

Also, the color appears to be around A3, and the canine in particular has a more yellowish 느낌, right? A sample of typical Korean tooth color?

This is the result after three sessions of Ostem Beautis.

Overall, it seems to show a result around A2 to A1.5. I think this is about average.

The body area, which was originally more yellow, still retains more yellow tones even after whitening.

By the same logic, you can see that the canine remains darker than the other teeth.

For those who are very bothered by just the canines being dark, veneers are sometimes done only on the canines to match the color.

This woman in her 20s responded well to whitening.

I’m like that too, but somehow if the teeth look flimsy and weak, whitening works well...

That’s exactly me... so I can really picture what that feels like. People who read my posts closely will probably know roughly what I mean.

The teeth look thin and somewhat weak, right?

This patient did experience a little sensitivity, but she completed three sessions of Ostem Beautis without any major issues.

As a result, the color brightened to around A1 level!!

I understand she was personally very satisfied. In photos, improvement of this level means that in real life, the difference is noticeable enough to be clearly felt.

(Looking at it again, isn’t A4 really dark!??!)

This is a man in his 30s, and I would have expected teeth like this to be a bit difficult to whiten.

The teeth look strong and have a glossy surface... they are well-mineralized teeth, and I remember saying in advance that the whitening results might not be strikingly obvious.

Oh, but the whitening results were better than I expected.

They improved to around A2, and if you look closely, you can see that the teeth became quite translucent, revealing several existing fine cracks.

There are no adults whose teeth do not have internal fine cracks. When teeth are whitened, the teeth become whiter and more translucent, so those cracks simply become more noticeable.

The last patient I’ll introduce today!

Her upper teeth were neatly aligned and had a relatively even color tone.

If you look closely, the canines are quite worn down, which raises suspicion of bruxism!!

This is when it feels most rewarding to reach A1... haha. It’s not guaranteed that everyone will reach A1, but if your teeth are not too dark, I definitely think it’s worth trying to aim for A1 :)

Teeth whitening is similar to cosmetic skin procedures.

We can’t guarantee exactly how the result will turn out, but the yellow tone definitely decreases, and a brighter, more translucent, and sparkling feel appears.
