I’m Baek, the director of Rev Dental, and I’m passionate about teeth whitening near Sinsa Station.

I previously introduced a Michelin-listed seaweed soup restaurant that appeared on Yongridan-gil, didn’t I?

It was the place where even Japanese tourists would wait for up to three months to visit because it was known as a great perilla seed seaweed soup restaurant.

The food wasn’t bad, but at the same time, I remember thinking that it must be really difficult to create a Korean restaurant that makes you go, “Wow!”

Today, I’d like to introduce a seaweed soup restaurant that is generally easy to visit.

Hyomiyeok Dogok Main Branch

It’s a chain restaurant. The main branch is in Dogok-dong, and since valet parking is available, I chose convenience and visited despite it being a little far away.

Location: 42 Nonhyeon-ro 29-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

Parking: Valet parking available. 3,000 won.

There is actually a closer branch in Jamwon, so I considered going there, but I decided to travel a little farther, partly to enjoy the feeling of going on an outing. Valet parking is available at the entrance and costs 3,000 won.

Pretty convenient, right?

This is Dogok-dong’s café street, which I used to visit often.

Exterior

The entrance has the familiar atmosphere of a popular Korean restaurant.

I visited in the evening, and the restaurant was packed with people.

It really seemed extremely popular.

The food displays outside looked quite delicious....

Aren’t these the models you used to see everywhere in department stores in the 1990s? Haha.

Come to think of it, you don’t see these very often anymore.

Interior

I thought the interior was clean and fairly standard.

I found it interesting that the staff were foreigners. We also have Chinese and Japanese interpreters at our dental clinic, so that crossed my mind.

Anyway, there was a self-service station right at the entrance.

The menu describes a wide variety of seaweed soups, so it seems capable of catering to quite a range of preferences.

Personally, I prefer seafood seaweed soup to beef seaweed soup, but my wife is the opposite.

So, respecting my wife’s opinion, we went with the beef seaweed soup.

My wife is a big fan of bora gulbi, so we ordered that as well.

I heard this place is also quietly known as a good bora gulbi restaurant.

Let’s start the meal!

Beef seaweed soup (15,000 won)

Bora gulbi (1 fish, 20,000 won)

Since the restaurant was crowded, it took a little while for the full spread to arrive.

I liked that the bora gulbi had been prepared so it was easy to eat, and even though we ordered the bora gulbi, they also served me seaweed soup, which was nice.

The bora gulbi looks pretty good, doesn’t it?

Ah, seeing this fish again after a long time made it look especially delicious....

The meat had been generously deboned, which made it very easy and pleasant to eat.

It was savory and slightly salty, and this really is a good bora gulbi restaurant, just as I had heard!!!!

I had searched around a bit before visiting, and I was completely satisfied. They even serve seaweed soup with a 20,000-won order—this is great!

The side dishes aren’t served in such abundance that they nearly bend the table legs,

but there was enough variety among the basic side dishes to make the meal enjoyable.

Since the seaweed soup and bora gulbi are the standout dishes, the remaining side dishes seemed to be mostly mildly seasoned greens and other vegetables.

I like kimchi that hasn’t been fully fermented like this, so I enjoyed it.

The star of today’s meal is the beef seaweed soup, right?

It’s seaweed soup with thinly sliced beef scattered throughout.

It’s rich and delicious. Personally, I think that if seaweed soup is this tasty, what more could you need?

I recommend this as a place where you can enjoy a clean, satisfying bowl of seaweed soup whenever you’re craving it.

I had another truly delicious meal today.!!!

Conclusion

For my taste, this place is better than the Michelin-listed restaurant......

It feels like it had been a long time since I went restaurant-hopping. After having a child and seeing my wife’s mobility become more limited, we have had far fewer opportunities to visit restaurants like we used to. ㅠㅠ

I searched hard before visiting this restaurant after such a long time, and personally, I was satisfied. Forget value for money—I was simply happy to be able to eat a generous amount of delicious seaweed soup.

I think this is a restaurant worth recommending. I would need to visit the other branches, but I get the feeling this is a place where you won’t have a disappointing experience. Even while writing this post, it still looks delicious....

This is a restaurant frequently visited by local residents, and I imagine that many customers with considerable purchasing power also come here, so the quality is likely consistent. Although the trademark was changed from O-bok Miyeok to Hyomiyeok, this restaurant has been operating in the same location for quite a long time. I hope this helps anyone who suddenly finds themselves craving seaweed soup..
