[Guri Restaurant] Songdo Galbi Guri Walkerhill Branch – My Favorite Marinated Pork Rib Restaurant. It’s Expensive, but Every Side Dish Is Delicious.

Hello.

This is Director Baek’s Muk-sullin from Lev Dental Clinic, bringing teeth whitening to people around the world.

This is probably the restaurant I have visited the most in my life, and one I have always loved. This may possibly be my last visit, so here is my review.

Songdo Galbi Guri Walkerhill Branch

I stopped by while visiting the Walkerhill Hotel. It’s about a five-minute drive away…?

If you happen to be visiting Walkerhill and would like to enjoy a delicious Korean meal with your family, you may want to keep this place in mind.

Location: 47 Achasan-ro, Guri-si, Gyeonggi-do

Parking: Available.

The outdoor parking lot is quite spacious. Unless you visit during an especially busy peak time, you should not have to worry about parking.

This place was originally called “Cheonjiyeon,” but it seems that most locations are now being changed to “Songdo Galbi.” Most Songdo Galbi locations seem to be situated in places where parking is guaranteed.

Come to think of it, I didn’t know this, but a Songdo Galbi branch opened in Pyeongchang-dong. It is much closer to my home, so I have a feeling I may not visit the Guri Walkerhill branch as often anymore…

There are fewer branches in Seoul than I expected. Aside from the Pyeongchang branch, I think there is probably only the Changdong branch. The Ilsan, Hanam, and Pangyo flagship branches are all delicious too!!!

Exterior

This is a freestanding building.

The fourth floor serves beef, while the third floor serves pork.

Since we decided to have marinated pork today, we went straight to the third floor.

For your reference, the third and fourth floors have nearly identical facilities, but they serve different types of meat—pork versus beef—and the side dishes are also different!

Personally, I prefer the side dishes on the third floor, so I usually order the marinated pork. Haha.

Interior

At some point, after a renovation, the third and fourth floors came to look almost identical.

I am always impressed by how clean and well-maintained the facilities are.

It is truly impressive to see so many employees wiping and cleaning the tableware and facilities as carefully as if they were their own. It really is a proper restaurant…!

You can just barely see it on the right, but I understand there are quite a few private rooms. I have never used one myself, though…

I recommend this place for family gatherings.

Han-don marinated pork ribs, two servings (₩28,000 per serving)

They told us that pork must be ordered in portions of at least two servings.

When I first learned about Cheonjiyeon, there were three options: frozen imported pork, frozen domestic pork, and fresh domestic pork. The imported pork ribs that were available until last year have disappeared, and everything has now been unified under “Han-don marinated pork.”

They unified everything under the most expensive option… I thought the owner’s decision was quite remarkable. It has been nearly ten years since my first visit, but when I think about how the pork dish cost around ₩10,000 back then… I cannot even begin to imagine how much prices have risen… Haha.

Once you are seated, an employee grills all the marinated Han-don pork ribs for you!

Before long, the table is filled with a generous spread of delicious side dishes.

There genuinely was not a single side dish that wasn’t delicious~

My personal favorite is the fried eggplant in the photo on the left.

It is delicious both hot and cold, and it is truly a special treat!!!

I wonder how they manage to coat such thin slices of eggplant in batter and fry them so perfectly. On top of that, perhaps because they use clean oil, the flavor is wonderfully nutty and absolutely fantastic.

The dish on the right is kabocha squash salad! You can also get refills of any of the side dishes if you would like.

On the left are boiled cabbage and fermented squid. They go perfectly with the meat.!!

The dish on the right is japchae, right? This japchae is also boldly seasoned and incredibly delicious… It remains delicious no matter how much I eat it. ㅠ.ㅠ

While we were waiting, the marinated pork ribs were almost fully cooked.

It seems they grill everything for you in about ten minutes.

Since they are grilled over charcoal, they are delicious, and the marinade is especially bold and flavorful!!!! I have never met anyone who said these were not delicious!!!

You can place the fermented squid on top and eat it this way. In fact, both the ribs and the fermented squid are strongly seasoned.

So ordering a bowl of rice to eat with them helps balance the seasoning and makes for a great combination!

Even looking at it again, it was delicious… This is one of my favorite restaurants in Guri.

Dessert naengmyeon in broth (₩9,000)

The dessert naengmyeon in broth that we ordered while waiting arrived quickly.

It is a fairly standard Hamheung-style naengmyeon. I say “standard,” but it is delicious too.

The broth is refreshing, and the noodles slide down easily. This is a great place for cool, springy naengmyeon in broth.

Soybean paste stew (₩6,000; rice sold separately)

Rice must be ordered separately!!! Even though the soybean paste stew may not look particularly impressive, it is quite delicious.

It is slightly spicy and goes perfectly with rice.

The tofu inside was also incredibly delicious. I even ordered another bowl of rice because I didn’t want to waste the remaining stew!!

Scorched rice (₩3,000)

We had finished all the rice, but there were still side dishes left, so something felt incomplete…

So we ordered scorched rice. Wow, this was delicious too.

There was nothing that wasn’t delicious… There was no weak link at all……

This was also my first time ordering scorched rice here. It does not arrive alone—it comes with cubed radish kimchi as well.

The cubed radish kimchi was delicious too… In the end, this review makes the almost unbelievable claim that absolutely everything was delicious…

Kabocha squash sikhye, also available for separate purchase.

You can probably guess that this was delicious too, even without me saying so, right? Yes, that’s correct~

It was simply a wonderfully happy meal…!…

I really, really enjoyed the meal today as well.!!!

Conclusion

If you are looking for a great restaurant for marinated pork ribs, go straight to Songdo Galbi.!!!

Even though I have written so enthusiastically about Songdo Galbi, this is simply a review of a meal I paid for myself, and I receive nothing in return.

I have lost count of how many posts I have written since my previous blog. Haha. At this point, I feel like I should become an ambassador!!!

In any case, Songdo Galbi Guri Walkerhill Branch, which I visited late this evening, was truly a great restaurant in Guri… I was happy throughout the entire meal.

The biggest downside of visiting this branch was that it is quite far away ㅠㅠ It was surprisingly far from my home.

I discovered while writing this post that a branch opened in Pyeongchang-dong~~~ I have a feeling I will probably go there from now on.

Songdo Galbi (formerly Cheonjiyeon) is truly an excellent restaurant, with very little difference in taste or service quality between its branches!!!!

Personally, if someone asked me what I would want to eat before I die, I think it would be marinated pork ribs.

The funny thing is that comedian Kim Jun-hyun also said that if he were allowed to choose one last meal before dying, he would choose pork ribs.

That is how delicious this food is, and how long its flavor lingers.

For reference, you may feel that ₩28,000 per serving is quite expensive… But the side dishes are much better than you might expect, so once you start eating, you may actually end up eating a little less pork. My spouse and I can never eat more than two servings… The rice and side dishes are more satisfying than you might expect, so if you visit, be sure to try a little of everything!!!
