This is Baek’s food guide.

Today, I’m sharing a story from a casual visit to a restaurant in Hannam-dong.

Was it five years ago when I first visited? There was once a branch of 한남북엇국 in the basement of Nine One Hannam.

It was so delicious when I ate there that I told myself, “I have to visit the main branch someday,” but I didn’t make it there until 2026.

However... I hear that the dried pollack soup is only served at lunchtime...

한남북엇국 Main Branch

True to its name as the main branch, this restaurant appears to occupy nearly an entire building.

It is listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey and is also a Korean restaurant that has received two stars on the Siksin app.

Location: 65-7 Dokseodang-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Parking: Valet parking available.

You probably know where it is from this description, right? It is beneath the elevated road that comes down after crossing Hannam Bridge.

I didn’t know valet parking was available... Valet parking is offered on the first floor of the restaurant, so please keep that in mind if you plan to drive there!

We weren’t in a condition to drink, so we stopped by at night and enjoyed a delicious late-night meal... haha

Exterior

It is simply grand. Haha. When you arrive in front of the restaurant, you might think, “Wait, is this entire building 한남북엇국!?”

For reference, the dried pollack soup is a limited menu item available only at lunchtime.

That said, nighttime is when you can really experience the essence of 한남북엇국. Haha, there are so many menu items.

From the entrance, you can see the valuable red two-star Siksin stickers and the Blue Ribbon Survey stickers.

The atmosphere immediately gives off a serious “great restaurant” vibe~~

Interior

We were shown to a corner table on the second floor.

For reference, the menu is posted all over the wall to our right—out of view in the photo. Haha.

Looking through reviews on other people’s blogs, you can see that the menu changes quite flexibly.

Since it was nighttime, we couldn’t try the dried pollack soup. We were recommended the red snow crab meat bibimbap and a platter of jeon, so that is what we ordered.

Meal time!!!

The light banchan spread began to arrive.

They initially gave us three side dishes, but after looking at my wife, they brought us one more.

The side dishes here are delicious too~~

Starting with cucumber salad and continuing to eggplant salad.

They serve vegetable side dishes that most Koreans would enjoy.

They taste best when they are a little spicy and a little salty, right~~~?

And then the full spread arrived!!!

Since we ordered rice and jeon, they also gave us a complimentary spicy bean sprout soup.

Red Snow Crab Meat Bibimbap (20,000 won)

You might think it is a little expensive, but this bibimbap contains a surprisingly generous amount of finely prepared snow crab meat!

They said it is the signature menu item at Hannam-dong restaurant 한남북엇국.

At 20,000 won per bowl, it is fairly expensive though~~~

What makes it distinctive is that there is no gochujang or anything similar in sight; it is simply seasoned with sesame oil.

Doesn’t it seem like it would be delicious if there were plenty of snow crab meat?

I’ll mix it well.

It has an excellent nutty flavor and is really appealing.

Even after mixing in all the rice and seaweed greens, there still seems to be quite a lot of snow crab meat.

There was a reason the staff member recommended it. Haha, it was incredibly delicious.

I polished off the entire bowl almost as soon as I mixed it...;;

Beef Jeon + Shrimp Jeon (30,000 won)

A combination of beef jeon and shrimp jeon. Both are well-known for being delicious, right?

At 30,000 won for one platter, that works out to about 3,000 won per piece... You can really see how much prices have risen. ㅠㅠㅠ

In any case, these are priced about the same as jeon bought at a department store.

The shrimp jeon was more substantial and delicious than I expected.

It isn’t in the photo, but the beef jeon was also nutty and delicious.

The jeon was so good that its quality immediately made me say, “This really is a great Korean restaurant!”!!!

We ate everything so quickly because it was so delicious, so there are no more photos...

Once again, we really enjoyed our meal today!!!

Conclusion

한남북엇국 is truly an excellent Korean restaurant!!

Although I couldn’t try the dried pollack soup I had been looking forward to, it turned out to be an opportunity to enjoy various delicious rice dishes and side dishes in the evening.

We have been eating out a lot lately and have become accustomed to restaurant food, but even for us, the rice and side dishes here were quite delicious~~~

We enjoyed a pleasant late-night meal, stopped by a convenience store, and then headed home. Haha

I think this is a Korean restaurant that you can visit easily and casually, without much difficulty.

It also seems like a restaurant worth recommending when you want to have a drink in the evening!!

If only it were closer to home, I would have gone there very often... I probably would have gotten takeout too... That is my one regret. ^^;
