[Kyoto Tonkatsu Restaurant] Buta Gorilla – The Crispy Fried Tonkatsu Is Truly Delicious! A Brief Review of My nth Visit

I thought this would be the final post about my trip to Kyoto, but I had a few photos left, so I’ll briefly introduce one more good restaurant.

Just a very short one..

Buta Gorilla

It seems that Buta Gorilla operates two locations in Kyoto: the main branch and a second location.

The location I visited this time was the second branch. It was close to The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto, so we were able to walk there.

Here’s my review of the main branch from a while ago! Haha.

I revisited it after about two and a half years ~~ It was so touching haha.

It’s very easy to find.

Because it’s on the second floor of the Saemaeul Sikdang building.. haha.

Once you find that sign, just go up the stairs on the right.

There’s a sign featuring a pig and a gorilla.

The full menu is briefly listed, so you can get an idea of the prices!

The prices are incredibly good value.. And the crispy fried tonkatsu is just so delicious.

We went in for dinner a little earlier than usual.

The neat, orderly interior has that distinctly Japanese feel, doesn’t it?

My wife was happy to be visiting again after such a long time!

We almost went somewhere else because we didn’t realize this place was so close~

On the other hand, I’m not quite sure why it’s called Buta Gorilla.. haha.

At a restaurant that fries and serves pork, it feels a little sad that the character is a pig ㅠㅠ

The prices are truly fantastic.

In Korea, a premium tonkatsu meal would probably cost around 20,000 won by now.. We’ve reached an era where Japanese tonkatsu is cheaper than Korean tonkatsu, haha..

I like assorted cutlets.

You get to try a little bit of everything....

Today, I decided to order the one in the upper left.

The Buta-Gori Special!!! The portion is quite large, and it costs only 1,519 yen~

Can you tell how perfectly the tonkatsu was fried? Haha.

The characteristic feature is its thin, crispy coating.

There’s tonkatsu, chicken cutlet, minced-meat cutlet, and even a shrimp cutlet.

It tastes exactly as delicious as classic Japanese cutlet should. It may seem a little unusual to come all the way to Kyoto and eat tonkatsu... but this place is a surprisingly memorable favorite.

Even looking at it again, this is an incredible value-for-money restaurant with a huge portion.!!

Ah, it was really delicious.. If you’re reading my post, I hope you’ll make sure to visit at least once ^^

I visited this place a long time ago, but it was still delicious when I came back~

I’ve been to so many good restaurants since then!!! My standards must have risen in the meantime... but it was still delicious. If you want to enjoy classic Japanese tonkatsu without worrying about the price, I recommend this place!
