[Bangbae-dong Restaurant] Ddaetjjang Donkatsu Ricenzia Branch – Ddaetjjang Set Meal Review, Paid with My Own Money. Cold Soba Not Recommended...

Hello.

This is Baek's Gourmet Guide from Rev Dental Clinic, where people from all over the world come for teeth whitening.

I visited one of my favorite pork cutlet restaurants for the first time in a long while.

It serves Japanese-style pork cutlets rather than premium tonkatsu~ This time, I visited another branch in Bangbae-dong instead of the Bangbae main branch.

Ddaetjjang Donkatsu Ricenzia Branch

First, here is my 2023 review below....

Looking at the prices, they had only gone up by about 1,000 won? I wondered if it was not already rather expensive, or whether the owner had simply not raised the prices as much as inflation~

The menu is slightly different, but this time I decided to try the cold soba.

Of course, I also had the fried fish cutlet, which is Ddaetjjang Donkatsu's specialty!!

Location: 1st floor, 204 Bangbae Jungang-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul

Parking: Parking is available in the basement of the building.

The main branch also offers free parking, but one advantage of the Ricenzia branch is that the parking lot is a little more spacious.

Since it is in an officetel building, the basement parking facilities are well-equipped. It does not look like there are an enormous number of spaces, but I do not think I have ever found the lot full when visiting.

The restaurant operates until 8:30 p.m., but what was surprising was that they still took our order even though we arrived at 8:10 p.m.

On the other hand, this could also be evidence that the pork cutlets have a fairly high turnover rate...?

Even more surprising was that two solo diners arrived after my wife and me, both had their orders taken, and they finished and left before us.... In any case, we are grateful for their generosity in serving customers who visited so late..

Exterior

It is not an especially remarkable parking lot, but there are quite a few spaces in the basement level 1 parking area.

In addition to the space shown above, there are spaces on both sides that look large enough for several dozen cars. (20–30 cars??)

What makes Ddaetjjang Donkatsu Ricenzia Branch better than the main branch is that parking is a little more convenient.

For reference, there does not seem to be much difference in taste between Ddaetjjang Donkatsu's branches, so I expect the level of satisfaction would be similar wherever you go~

They operate until 8:30 p.m., and we arrived at 8:10 p.m....

There were no restrictions other than the fact that they had run out of rice balls and served regular rice instead. Great!!

Interior

With lots of cherry-colored furniture, it has the typical look of a Korean restaurant.

Even so, I was really surprised by how clean the open kitchen was, and the restaurant's cleanliness was truly outstanding.

I feel like our employees should learn from them too..!!

Semi Fish Cutlet and Cold Soba Set (15,500 won)

This was my first time trying the cold soba set.

I had tried the udon at Ddaetjjang Donkatsu before, but this was my first time having the cold soba~~~

You dip the noodles into the chilled broth before eating them.

When you think of Ddaetjjang Donkatsu, it is usually the fried fish cutlet, right?

If this is your first visit, I would not discourage you from trying one of the other pork cutlets, but be sure to include the fried fish cutlet.

It had been a while since I visited Ddaetjjang Donkatsu. The cutlet was still fried well, with a thin, crispy coating that created a great texture.

I did have a slight disappointment, though: I wished the fish inside had been made from larger, more intact pieces of fish.

Still, this is definitely not a cutlet made from miscellaneous fish.

Personally, I found the cold soba to have a very ordinary taste.

It is not as if I have any particular opinions about cold soba... but in any case, this one was quite ordinary.

I probably would not order it again. . .

Ddaetjjang Set Meal (17,500 won)

The Ddaetjjang Set Meal can be considered the signature set at Ddaetjjang Donkatsu.

Its defining feature is that you can enjoy both the tenderloin cutlet and the fried fish cutlet at the same time, along with udon.

If you are a man.. I recommend choosing the Ddaetjjang Set Meal or the General Set Meal. They come with the most generous portions.

(The only difference between the Ddaetjjang and General sets is the type of udon..)

Can you see it? Whether it is the tenderloin cutlet or the fried fish cutlet, the coating is filled with meat or fish.

The coating is thinner and firmer than I expected.

I think it was fried exceptionally well.

The color is beautiful as well.

As it continues to thrive in Bangbae-dong, I thought it was only natural that there would be another branch in Bangbae-dong.

Personally, I prefer this Ddaetjjang Donkatsu style to the premium tonkatsu restaurants that have been popular lately.. haha

For example, places like “Basak” on Jeju Island..

The udon is not particularly special either.

It has a taste that is somewhat familiar, much like the cold soba...? haha

Still, personally, I would choose the udon over the cold soba~~

Let me show you the cross-sections of the tenderloin cutlet and fried fish cutlet!

You can see the crispy coating and plump meat inside. I would have preferred the fish to be made from slightly larger, more intact pieces, but it is still packed with tender fish.

As you will know once you try it, I would not call it a heavenly taste, but it is definitely a familiar kind of deliciousness that is reliable enough to come back for!

I really enjoyed the meal today as well.!!!

Conclusion

I think familiar flavors can be the most irresistible. Haha

Having visited over many years, I think this is a restaurant that provides the same satisfying, familiar deliciousness you would expect from a long-established favorite.

There is not much difference in taste between the main branch and its branches, and I also really like their approach to running the restaurant in a very hygienic manner.

I occasionally find myself thinking about it, so I should stop by a little more often from now on.. haha

You can tell what it will taste like just by looking at it, but isn't that exactly the kind of food you sometimes crave—pork cutlets?
