After leaving behind the dental clinic in Geumho-dong, which I opened and operated in 2020, I expanded it to five times its original size and opened a new clinic across from Garosu-gil in 2025.

There was only one reason I opened the clinic: to create a dental clinic that provides excellent care for every treatment, so that everyone can have a beautiful smile!!!

At first, I worked and focused my efforts with Director Ko Seok-ho to achieve no-prep veneers.

Then, beyond veneers that require less tooth reduction, I became fascinated by teeth whitening, which makes teeth whiter without shaving them down.

How does teeth whitening work, exactly?

This is a photo that appears frequently when we promote our clinic. Haha.

In Korea, in-office teeth whitening consists of a whitening agent and a teeth-whitening device that helps activate it.

A gel containing hydrogen peroxide is applied to the surface of the teeth. When the teeth-whitening device emits a special blue light onto the teeth for a certain amount of time, the whitening gel breaks down and destroys the yellow pigment molecules. That is the principle behind the treatment!!

Although hydrogen peroxide-based whitening agents are the prevailing choice worldwide, other countries, including the United States, Europe, and Japan, also perform teeth whitening using different ingredients. In Korea, however, only hydrogen peroxide products are sold.

Among the products currently available on the market, Osstem Beautis is one of the products associated with the least sensitivity, which naturally occurs during teeth whitening. It contains ingredients that reduce tooth irritation, allowing the use of a relatively higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide and helping produce better whitening results.

So, what happens when you undergo teeth whitening?

The results of teeth whitening are something everyone is curious about.

Without making any changes, I would like to introduce a few cases from among today’s patients who agreed to have their results posted.

If your situation is similar to theirs, these examples may be helpful to review before receiving teeth whitening.

Woman in her 20s

This woman in her 20s originally had somewhat bright teeth.

The central teeth were approximately shade A2. Considering that the average shade for Koreans is roughly A3–3.5, she naturally had relatively bright teeth, wouldn’t you say?

Among a person’s natural teeth, the canines are usually the darkest. In this case, her incisors were approximately A2, while her canines were approximately A3.5.

You can see that the overall yellow tone has been significantly reduced, right?

It is somewhat difficult to achieve a shade beyond A1 through teeth whitening alone, but you can clearly get the feeling that your personal color tone has changed.

It feels somewhat like moving from a warm tone to a cool tone. Haha. A more sparkling appearance also developed, and the patient was satisfied.

Man in his 30s

This was another man in his 30s.

He had quite a bit of tartar, along with some staining. For patients like this, simply providing thorough scaling and polishing at our Rev Dental Clinic at Sinsa Station can make the teeth look noticeably brighter, you know? Hahaha.

In addition, he received three Osstem Beautis teeth-whitening sessions today.

The central incisors were somewhat darker, so compare the results based on those teeth.

The central tooth that had darkened after root canal treatment is difficult to brighten significantly with this type of conventional professional teeth whitening.

A dark central tooth can only be addressed with non-vital tooth whitening.

In any case, you can see that the shade became very bright after three Osstem Beautis whitening sessions, right?

It brightened from A3 to A1. This appears to be a relatively good result.

Woman in her 50s

Age is not everything, but teeth whitening results do seem to tend to be less pronounced as people get older.

I believe this is because the density of the teeth increases as aging progresses.

Her teeth were approximately shade A3.5.

They appeared quite yellow. You should always compare your teeth with a shade guide before and after treatment.

In any case, this woman in her 50s came in with the mindset that she would be satisfied if her teeth became even slightly brighter.

The naturally occurring stripes may appear somewhat more pronounced in photographs immediately after whitening.

Areas where the teeth were slightly indented cannot be treated with the whitening agent during teeth whitening. As a result, the yellow color may remain more visible in those areas, but you can see that the overall shade brightened from approximately A3.5 to a mixture of nearly A1 and A2.

In person, you will likely find the result quite satisfactory. Veneers are a good option, but teeth whitening can also produce excellent and satisfying results.

Oh, she received three Osstem Beautis whitening sessions in one day.

Woman in her 30s

This was the final patient of the day!

This patient had some composite resin on her front teeth. Resin does not become lighter even after teeth whitening.

Even so, she wanted the remaining areas to become brighter and more radiant overall.

Overall, I thought her teeth were close to A3.

The canines appeared to be partially close to A3.5.

After three Trinity whitening sessions, you can see that the overall appearance improved considerably, shifting from a warm tone to a cool tone.

The teeth did not brighten all the way to A1, but they appear to have reached A2 sufficiently.

There is also a particularly noticeable white spot. This is a white-spot lesion, a feature often seen in people who have undergone orthodontic treatment. You can think of it as a sign that there was early tooth decay; with proper care, it will not progress further.

When you undergo teeth whitening, a somewhat opaque white color may become more noticeable. It settles down after one to two days, so please do not be too surprised. In any case, even reducing this amount of yellow tone can make the teeth look significantly improved in person.

Teeth whitening is often compared to a cosmetic dermatological procedure, while veneers are compared to plastic surgery.

Of course, plastic surgery can produce dramatic improvement and a clear effect in a short period of time, even if it is somewhat painful.

However, even a non-surgical procedure can certainly produce good results when it is managed consistently and properly!! Teeth whitening has similar characteristics.

It would be nice if the teeth became much brighter at once, but it seems that relatively few people can achieve their desired shade in a single session. Also, to become significantly brighter all at once, the whitening agent would need to be strong or the teeth would need to be weak. We recommend visiting for teeth-whitening treatment once every six months for approximately two to three years.

The satisfaction seems to be higher than expected and comparable to that of veneers.
