We are sharing the research results of Wells Dermatology’s “Thermage MAX,” which make skin appear 5.3 years younger.
Hello.
I’m Choi Won-woo, the chief director of Wells Dermatology.
Recently, while consulting on lifting treatments, many people have been asking questions like this.
“Does Thermage FLX really work?”
That may be why so many people search Naver blogs and review posts before deciding on a procedure.
In fact, Thermage is already a well-proven device that has been around for a long time.
But there was one thing I felt was disappointing in the clinic.
“Why is there such a big difference in results even though it’s the same Thermage?”
I was curious whether it was simply a matter of the device, or whether some actual changes were happening in the skin.

So we conducted a joint study with CutiS Bio.
Rather than simply comparing photos,
we examined the effects of Thermage by analyzing the biological age of the skin.
Today, I’ll briefly summarize the research results.^^

“Skin age” can actually be measured.
In the past, skin aging was mainly judged by appearance.
How deep the wrinkles are
How much elasticity has declined
How much the facial contour has collapsed
But this method makes objective comparison difficult.
So in this study, we took a slightly different approach using skin microbiome analysis.

Many microorganisms live on the skin, and this microbial environment is closely linked to
skin barrier function
inflammatory responses
collagen metabolism
skin aging
If we analyze this microbial environment of the skin,
we can objectively assess the current biological aging status of the skin as a numerical value.

Biological Skin Aging Index
An index that analyzes “how much younger my skin is than my actual age.”
- Differences between standard Thermage FLX and Thermage MAX
In this study, we compared two groups.

- Standard Thermage FLX group
Average energy: about 42 kJ
Standard treatment using the existing method
- Thermage MAX group
Average energy: about 54 kJ
High-intensity customized treatment
The MAX program first prepares the skin condition, then applies Thermage at a higher intensity.

The study proceeded in the following order.
- Skin microbiome analysis before treatment
- 3D skin imaging
- Thermage treatment
- Repeated the same tests after 28 days
Then we compared the skin changes in the two groups based on the microbial environment.
- Research results
Biological changes in the skin were confirmed in the Thermage MAX group.
In the Beta-diversity analysis, which examines changes in the skin microbiome, a clear difference appeared between the two groups.

To briefly explain the results,
In the standard Thermage FLX group, there was no clear change in the skin’s biological environment before and after the procedure.
However, in the Thermage MAX group, it was confirmed that the skin environment before and after treatment changed in a statistically significant way.

In other words, this means that the skin’s internal biological environment itself actually changed after lifting.
The skin age changed in a direction that made it appear younger, and based on actual clinical data,
the Thermage MAX program showed a trend toward making the skin appear about 5 years younger.^^

In closing,
Thermage FLX is certainly a good device.
But after performing procedures for many years in the clinic and seeing many cases, I came to think that “what matters more than the device is the design.”
Even with the same Thermage,
energy settings
skin preparation process
treatment intensity
design
can greatly affect the results.

And the Thermage MAX program is not simply a method of performing treatment more aggressively,
but a precision anti-aging program based on skin condition analysis, biological skin age evaluation, and customized energy planning.
As confirmed through the research data,
I believe it is a more meaningful approach than receiving several other procedures, in that it is a method that can actually create biological changes in the skin.
If you are considering Thermage FLX, I recommend that you not simply compare prices or the number of shots,
but instead determine through a thorough consultation which method is better suited for your skin.
