Why do side effects from thigh liposuction
occur?

One question comes up most often during consultations with people
considering thigh liposuction.

It is whether removing as much as possible will make the legs
look better.
But the actual structure of the human body is not that simple.
The thigh’s front, inner, outer, and back areas are all
connected and create the overall line.

If this balance is not considered and only a specific area is
reduced too much, the overall proportions can be disrupted.
Especially when only the inner thigh is overly removed, the gap
between the legs may widen,
but the difference in thickness from the outer side can make the
contour look awkward.
In such cases, the area under the skin may also appear uneven.
Thigh liposuction side effects
Many people describe this as a side effect of thigh liposuction.
The important point is that it is not simply a problem caused by
removing too much,
but that the outcome depends on which layer was treated and how,
and on how the overall proportions were designed.
Reasons for a bumpy surface
There are several reasons why the leg surface may look uneven
after the procedure.
The most common cause is when removal is not carried out evenly
within a specific layer.

If the tissue thickness is not maintained consistently, unevenness
may form beneath the skin.

Another cause is when skin thickness and elasticity are not taken
into account.
If a large amount is reduced while the skin is thin or does not
have enough elasticity, unevenness may become visible on the
surface.
These changes may become more noticeable after the initial swelling
subsides.

For this reason, when planning thigh liposuction, it is important to
design the procedure with consideration for both the skin condition
and the tissue structure, rather than simply focusing on reducing
volume.
That way, the leg line is more likely to flow naturally and the
surface is more likely to remain smooth.
Why the buttocks may look saggy
One issue often mentioned as a side effect of thigh liposuction
is sagging of the buttocks.

In fact, the lower buttock and the back of the thigh have a
connected structure.
If the volume in this area is reduced rapidly, the support that
was holding up the buttocks may weaken.
As a result, the boundary under the hips may become blurred, or the
buttocks may appear to have dropped.

This change can be especially noticeable if the back line is
shaped too aggressively.
Also, if the procedure is performed while the skin lacks sufficient
elasticity, the tissue may not contract to fit the new shape,
which can make sagging more noticeable.
(Left) Before, (Right) After 6 months
That is why, when planning thigh liposuction, it is important to
consider the line that connects to the buttocks as well.
Simply approaching it by reducing only the leg circumference can
disrupt the natural balance of the lower body.
When revision surgery is needed
Not every case of a bumpy surface or adhesions requires revision
surgery.

During the early recovery stage, swelling and tissue changes may
cause the area to look temporarily uneven.
After a certain period of time, as the tissue stabilizes, it may
naturally improve.
However, if a specific area continues to feel tight or surface
irregularities remain even after enough time has passed, correction
may be necessary.

In such cases, the approach is not simply to remove more again,
but to release adhesions or address imbalanced areas.
The important thing is to consider the overall proportions from
the initial planning stage.
This is because many of the problems referred to as side effects of
thigh liposuction begin with excessive removal and an unbalanced
design.
