1. When might Wegovy tablets launch in South Korea?

Wegovy tablets

were first launched

in some countries overseas.

Sales began in the United States in early 2026,

while in the United Kingdom,

prescriptions are also being issued following approval.

However, in South Korea,

the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has not yet announced

approval or an official launch schedule.

Therefore, Wegovy tablets

cannot currently be prescribed

or purchased in South Korea.

In general, for a medication launched overseas

to be introduced in South Korea,

an approval review and supply schedule are required.

Although this may vary depending on the circumstances,

some in the industry expect that a launch in South Korea

could take place as early as around 2027.

However, this is only an estimate

2. Expected price and prescription·purchasing methods for Wegovy tablets

The price in South Korea has not yet been set either.

and the existing price of Wegovy injections,

at a similar level.

In the United States, the

suggested retail price for oral Wegovy

has been set at approximately $149 per month

for the starting dose (1.5 mg),

and $299 per month

for the maintenance dose (25 mg).

Based on the exchange rate in South Korea,

this is approximately KRW 220,000 to KRW 440,000.

However, the price in South Korea has not yet been determined.

At present, because the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has not announced approval

or a launch schedule,

it is difficult to predict the exact retail price.

The actual price may vary depending on the launch date,

whether insurance coverage applies,

and the distribution structure.

3. Differences between Wegovy tablets and injections

The biggest difference is how they are used.

The Wegovy injection currently in use

is administered once a week.

In contrast, Wegovy tablets

are taken once a day.

There may be requirements to follow,

such as taking the medication at a specific time

or taking it on an empty stomach.

There is also a difference in how the medication

is absorbed by the body.

The injection is administered directly under the skin,
