Is compliance important for Invisalign? | A real case that improved reverse bite and scissors bite in 8 months

Invisalign is an orthodontic method where the patient’s compliance is very important.

If it is worn properly, the results can be very good.

Today,

we would like to introduce a real case in which the patient diligently wore the appliance and achieved good results in 8 months.

We will introduce the treatment journey of a patient who faithfully wore the appliance.

This is a patient whose front teeth had a reverse bite and whose premolar crowding showed a scissors bite.

The patient first visited us in October of last year for Invisalign treatment.

The old amalgam fillings were also replaced with tooth-colored restorations, so we planned to treat them gradually in between appointments.

However, crown treatment can significantly change the shape of the tooth,

This is what it looked like after wearing all 19 aligners from the first set, from November 2023 to March 2024.

The result is good because the appliance was worn faithfully.

However, because the overlap of the upper lateral incisor over the lower front teeth was shallow and we wanted to reduce the black triangles between the front teeth a bit more, we proceeded with making additional appliances.

After waiting about a month to receive the additional appliances, the patient wore them diligently for three months from April to July 2024.

Near the end of the additional appliance phase, gingival contouring was also performed to align the gum line indicated by the blue arrow.
