Hello.
This is Yonsei Baro Dental Clinic, an orthodontic clinic in Apgujeong.
Invisalign treatment comes with a warranty period.
This allows additional aligners to be made to correct areas where the treatment results are not yet sufficient.
Even Invisalign Lite, a short-term partial orthodontic program, and Invisalign Express, the shortest program lasting just 2–3 months, include one possible refinement.
Q. Why are additional Invisalign aligners made?
A. Because minor discrepancies may arise during treatment that differ from expectations.
Tooth movement is a biological response, so the speed and movement can vary slightly from person to person. That is why Invisalign is designed to allow areas that need improvement to be corrected with additional aligners during the warranty period.
Q. Is Invisalign refinement always necessary?
A. No.
If the desired result is achieved sufficiently with the first set, treatment may be completed without making additional aligners.
In fact, reducing the number of refinements can also shorten the overall treatment period.
Today, I would like to show you a case completed at Yonsei Baro Dental Clinic in Apgujeong without Invisalign refinement.

23.08
This patient visited us because they wanted orthodontic treatment for gaps between their teeth.

23.08
Protruding upper front teeth and a deep bite, in which the front teeth overlap deeply, were also visible.
The molar occlusion was relatively good.
If you ask which malocclusion Invisalign treats particularly well,
gaps between the teeth are definitely one of the best cases.
Closing the spaces can easily worsen a deep bite.
However, good control of this aspect can produce a favorable result.
That is why Invisalign is actively recommended when there are spaces between the teeth.

After consultation, this patient also decided to receive Invisalign treatment.
The initial treatment plan consisted of a total of 31 aligners.

24.03
Blue arrow bite blocks for treating the deep bite were also incorporated into the aligners.
This is the appearance after wearing all 31 aligners from the first set at one-week intervals, from September 2023 to March 2024.

24.03
The deep bite had improved well, and 98% of the space had closed, but a small remaining space of 2% was still present.
Although it was not easily visible, this was an area where dental floss entered loosely rather than fitting tightly.
The midline had also improved considerably compared with the beginning.
Even so, there was still a slight discrepancy.
Instead of proceeding with additional aligners, we adjusted the final aligner and had the patient wear it for one more month.
Then, in May 2024, treatment was finally completed.

24.05
The midline aligned well without any discrepancy.

23.08~24.05
The molar occlusion you may be concerned about was also very good.

23.08~24.05

23.08~24.05
Because gaps between the front teeth can easily reopen, retainers are important.
The patient received not only a fixed wire retainer but also a Vivera retainer.

23.08~24.05

23.08~24.05

23.08~24.05
The angulation of the protruding front teeth improved so that they came down in a straighter alignment,

23.08~24.05
and the smile became neater.

23.08~24.05
The protruding mouth was also moderately improved, creating a more defined lip line.
I hope this was helpful for those looking into Invisalign treatment for a protruding mouth or deep-bite correction.
