Hello,
This is a Gangnam orthodontic clinic.
Today, Apgujeong Yonsei Baro Dental Clinic would like to introduce partial orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth.
This post is for those who are concerned about crowded teeth.
Today, I will introduce a simple six-month case of partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth.

23.12~24.06
Although this was short-term partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth, the patient was treated with Clippy C rather than a simple appliance such as MTA or 2D because of the edge-to-edge bite. This is a case of partial orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth and short-term orthodontic treatment for the front teeth.

23.12

23.12
Since the molar occlusion was relatively good, short-term partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth was recommended.

23.12
Partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth uses small, simple appliances such as MTA mini-tubes or lingual 2D orthodontic appliances, as their function is generally limited to alignment.
However, in this patient, in addition to the crowded teeth, the front teeth showed a shallow edge-to-edge bite. Therefore, after aligning the front teeth, we planned to use elastics to improve the edge-to-edge bite to some extent as well.

24.05
This is how the teeth looked five months after treatment began.
Partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth is carried out by placing appliances only on the six front teeth.
The crowded teeth had almost been corrected, and elastics were used to help prevent the front-tooth bite from becoming deeper.
A small amount of interproximal reduction was performed to align the severely crowded teeth.
Then, one month later, in June 2024, the partial orthodontic treatment for the crowded teeth and the short-term orthodontic treatment for the front teeth were finally completed.

24.06
The teeth were aligned, and the front-tooth bite had become deeper than it was at the beginning.

24.06
This is how the teeth looked with the retainer in place.
Let’s compare the before and after results.
The total treatment period was six months.

Those who want a quick treatment
-
Those who prefer simple treatment rather than full orthodontic treatment

Results of Orthodontic Treatment for Crowded Teeth
The following changes were seen after treatment.
✅ Improvement in crowded teeth
✅ Improved alignment of the front teeth
✅ Improvement of the edge-to-edge bite
✅ A natural smile
✅ Stable occlusion

23.12~24.06
Even crowded teeth that appear severe can be treated appropriately and completed in a surprisingly short and simple period.
Here is a summary of this case.
Can crowded teeth be treated with partial orthodontics?
When molar occlusion is stable and only the alignment of the front teeth needs to be improved, there are cases that can be treated with partial orthodontics.
Why was Clippy C used for the partial orthodontic treatment?
Because the edge-to-edge bite also needed to be improved in this case, we chose Clippy C appliances, which allow treatment with elastics.
Is interproximal reduction safe?
Interproximal reduction performed within the necessary range is one of the standard orthodontic treatment methods used to create space.
How long does partial orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth take?
It varies depending on the patient’s condition, but treatment in this case was completed in approximately six months.
Is a retainer necessary after treatment?
Yes. Even after partial orthodontic treatment, a retainer must be worn consistently to maintain the treatment results for a long time.
Thank you.
