Hello.
This is Apgujeong Yonsei Baro Dental Clinic, a Gangnam Invisalign dental clinic and orthodontic clinic.
Today, we are introducing an Invisalign Lite treatment case.
What Cases Are Suitable for Invisalign Lite?
What Is Most Important When Considering Invisalign Lite?
The Lite program is not a treatment that can be applied to every malocclusion.
It is most important to accurately evaluate the patient’s tooth movement requirements, occlusal condition, molar relationship, and space analysis to determine whether treatment is possible with Invisalign Lite or whether the Comprehensive program is needed.

24.02–24.11
This patient visited us to straighten crooked teeth.

The tooth indicated by the blue arrow is positioned toward the palate and is biting opposite to the lower tooth, showing a crossbite.

One premolar is positioned inward.
If this issue had not been present, we would have recommended only anterior partial orthodontic treatment, such as MTA mini-tube or 2D orthodontic treatment, which costs less than Invisalign. However, because the malocclusion involved the molar area, comprehensive orthodontic treatment was necessary.
For malocclusions that can be resolved in a short period of nine months, Invisalign Lite is an appropriate option.
Invisalign Lite is an effective method for treating malocclusions that can be addressed with up to 14 aligners.
There is also one opportunity for additional aligners (refinement).
The total treatment period for Invisalign Lite is generally described as nine months, and this patient also took exactly nine months.

24.07
The aligners were received after three months. The patient began wearing them from Stage 1 and changed them at one-week intervals. By July, all 14 aligners had been worn.
Because there was a slight discrepancy in the midline, it was decided that this would be corrected with the additional aligners.

24.07
The blue arrow indicates the elastic hook used to correct the crossbite.
If an elastic is connected between this point and

24.07
the corresponding point on the palate, it can further help resolve the crossbite.
The additional aligners were worn for three months, from August through October, and the treatment was finally completed in November.

24.11
The midlines now match precisely.

24.02–24.11
The crossbite has been resolved.

24.02–24.11
The molar occlusion is also good.

24.02–24.11
As the molars were aligned, the shape of the dental arch improved.

24.02–24.11
The patient’s neater smile stands out.

24.02–24.11
The total treatment period was nine months, but excluding the time spent waiting for the aligners to be ordered and delivered, the aligners were actually worn for seven months.
It is important to have diagnostic confidence in determining whether a case is suitable for Invisalign Lite, which can produce good results within a shorter period and at a lower cost.
What Cases Are Suitable for Invisalign Lite?
It is suitable for mild or moderate dental alignment problems, certain cases of crossbite, and cases that can be treated with relatively limited tooth movement.
Can a Crossbite Also Be Treated with Invisalign Lite?
In some cases, yes. However, eligibility must be determined after accurately analyzing the occlusal condition and the amount of tooth movement required.
Why Was Invisalign Lite Chosen Instead of MTA or 2D Partial Orthodontic Treatment?
As in this case, when the malocclusion includes the premolars, treatment that adjusts the entire dental arch together is more appropriate than partial orthodontic treatment.
Are Additional Aligners Provided with Invisalign Lite?
Yes. With the Lite program, finishing treatment can generally be carried out through one round of additional aligners (refinement).
