Many people feel self-conscious about their crowded teeth whenever they smile, but find full orthodontic treatment burdensome.

Today, we would like to introduce a case of partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth that improved both crowded teeth and the bite of the front teeth in six months.

Although this was short-term partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth, the patient had an edge-to-edge bite, so Clippy-C was used instead of a simple appliance such as MTA or 2D. This is a case of partial orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth and the front teeth.

The molar bite was not particularly poor, so short-term orthodontic treatment for the front teeth was recommended.

Partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth generally uses small, simple appliances such as MTA mini-tubes or lingual 2D orthodontic appliances, which have functions other than alignment.

However, in addition to crowded teeth, this patient had a shallow edge-to-edge bite in the front teeth. Therefore, after aligning the front teeth, we decided to use elastics to improve the edge-to-edge bite to some extent as well.

Accordingly, Clippy-C, an appliance with a function for attaching elastics, was bonded, and orthodontic treatment began.

Partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth is carried out by attaching appliances only to the six front teeth.

The crowded teeth had been almost corrected, and elastics were used to help prevent the front teeth from becoming more deeply overlapped.

A small amount of interproximal reduction was also performed to align the severely crowded teeth.

Then, one month later, in June 2024, the partial orthodontic treatment for the crowded teeth and front teeth was finally completed.

Appliance Selection Is Also an Important Part of Treatment

Partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth does not always involve the same appliance.

To achieve the desired results, an appropriate appliance—such as an MTA mini-tube, lingual 2D, or Clippy-C—must be selected according to the patient’s bite and treatment goals.

For this patient, the goal was not simply to correct the crowded teeth but also to improve the edge-to-edge bite. Therefore, choosing Clippy-C was the most suitable treatment plan.
