Jeju trip Seochonje
A review after eating black pork tonkatsu & spicy chogyeomyeon with cuttlefish!

It’s a place known as a hidden gem in Jeju,
and it’s said to be a famous black pork tonkatsu restaurant that comedian Lee Guk-joo visits every time she comes to Jeju!
Since it was supposed to be a popular place, I thought there would definitely be a wait,
but it was quiet and there weren’t many people.
It’s near Gwakji Beach,
and right in front of the coastal road!
You can park right in front of the restaurant,
which made Jeju Seochonje convenient.

Jeju restaurant Seochonje
is said to be short for "seoul village bumpkin comes to Jeju."
Seochonje doesn’t have many tables,
and they are floor-seating tables!
There were one or two tables outside as well,
but the wind was blowing so hard that I don’t think it would be possible to sit outside.
It really seems like it would only be possible in summer!!
When I went to this Jeju restaurant Seochonje, there were still quite a few people,
so I couldn’t take any interior photos.
What you can see far over there is the menu.

Seochonje has exactly two menu items!
Black pork tonkatsu with tofu
(13,500 won)
Spicy chogyeomyeon with cuttlefish
(12,000 won)
Without even needing to look at the menu,
we ordered one of each!

When you sit down, they first bring salad,
and it’s just a lettuce salad!
It’s good for a light bite before the meal.
It seemed like the food we ordered was cooked right away,
and the dishes came out together.
Honestly, I thought the price was pretty high,
but both portions were quite large..!
(Jeju prices are expensive anywayㅠ.ㅠ)
Still, the visuals were really good.

Jeju Seochonje black pork tonkatsu
was not only big in size, but also very thick!
Usually when you go eat tonkatsu, if the cutlet is thick,
the breading is thick too, right?
The Seochonje black pork tonkatsu has a really thin coating,
and the meat is thick, so the texture of biting into the meat was so good!
Another unique point was that mashed tofu was piled on top of the tonkatsu,
and it was savory and soft, and it matched surprisingly well!
It was soaked with tonkatsu sauce,
so if you like old-style tonkatsu,
I think you would really enjoy it!

Spicy chogyeomyeon with cuttlefish
The chogyeomyeon wasn’t very different from other snack restaurants,
but I like chogyeomyeon with lots of vegetables more than noodles,
and there were really a lot of vegetables!!!
And the small amount of fried cuttlefish
went really well with it too!
Also, it didn’t have a strong sweet gochujang flavor,
so I think I enjoyed it even more.

I heard there’s another Seochonje location in the Gimnyeong area too.
If you’re traveling in Jeju, Seochonje black pork tonkatsu & spicy chogyeomyeon
seems like something worth trying at least once.
