Garosugil restaurant, Garosugil Makchang
The Daegu-style makchang is really good!
I went to Garosugil to eat gopchang,
but the wait was so long that I ended up walking in after seeing this place on the way,
Garosugil Makchang!!!! Since it had only recently opened,
it had a very neat and clean atmosphere.

Garosugil Makchang, a makchang restaurant, is a specialty restaurant for Daegu-style makchang.
Actually, when I go around Garosugil, I tend to look at the first floor a lot,
and I don’t really pay attention to the second floor. This time, while passing by,
I looked up at the second floor and saw a makchang place,
so I got drawn in and went inside, and it was a complete success
as a Garosugil restaurant :-)

Garosugil Makchang was much bigger than it looked from outside.
Seeing that it has a large private room, it seems like a good place for company dinners too.
When you go out to eat and there are groups having a dinner party, it can get very noisy,
but this place has separate rooms prepared.

The basic side dishes are simple!
Pickled radish, seasoned bean sprouts, and stir-fried fish cake
And the potatoes and mushrooms that go on the grill with the gopchang!
There were carrots, perilla leaves, and ssamjang!

And the sauces you absolutely need when eating makchang!
The red sauce on the left was a spicy-sweet sauce,
and the sauce on the right was a makjang-style sauce.
They also serve finely chopped chives and sliced chili peppers,
and they said you can put those in and eat them.

At first, I was worried the chili peppers would be spicy,
so I added a lot of chives, but the peppers weren’t spicy,
so after tasting it, I added lots of chili peppers!!!!
I also thought eating too much might make it salty,
but it wasn’t salty at all, and it helped cut the greasiness,
so I kept eating it.

At Garosugil Makchang, a Garosugil restaurant,
the makchang was pre-grilled, and they cut it for us!
After they cut it, you grill it some more.

Since I prefer gopchang over makchang,
it had been a really long time since I last had pork makchang,
but Sinsa Garosugil Makchang was really good!
They say pork makchang should be cooked until crispy,
so I kept flipping it often so it wouldn’t burn.

We first ate 3 servings of Daegu-style pork makchang,
and as I ate, I realized I preferred it cut into strips
rather than into round pieces!!!!!!!
It felt thicker somehow, yet also chewier...?

Most of all, what was delicious was
wrapping the makchang in perilla leaves!!
Be sure to wrap it in perilla leaves....

Since 3 servings of Garosugil Makchang didn’t feel like enough,
we ordered 2 more servings.
And because I had already grilled makchang once,
the makchang I grilled the second time was praised for being really well cookedㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
It definitely looked different from the first round, even in color.

I was going to order fried rice with brisket, but I wanted to finish neatly with dongchimi noodles,
so I ordered noodles.
I seriously debated between bibim noodles and dongchimi noodles,
and I think I made the right choice by ordering dongchimi noodles!
A neat finish to the meal :-)
We ate really well and enjoyed it.
