Q. How are surgery costs determined?

A. Generally, when you go to get treatment because you are sick, there is something called a set fee.

Because the fee is set, the cost is uniform no matter which hospital you go to.

But for aesthetic treatments such as plastic surgery or dermatology,

there is no specifically fixed price, so each hospital offers very different prices,

and that is why it is true that patients often feel very confused and find it difficult to decide.

The cost is determined by many factors, such as the patient’s condition, the type of surgery needed, and the surgeon’s experience and background.

When it comes to plastic surgery costs, customers need to make a rational judgment

and decide carefully before making a choice.

Q. How can you judge whether a price is reasonable?

A. Even when you go to buy a single item, you think about many different things before making the purchase.

In the case of plastic surgery, it is a bit more complicated than that and can vary depending on whether it is a revision surgery or the first surgery.

Also, depending on the doctor’s experience, the recommended surgery may differ, so the cost can vary greatly

and in many cases become complicated. But if you make a decision based only on cost,

there may be cases where you later need a revision surgery or other additional procedures, which can end up requiring you to pay even more.

So rather than prioritizing cost, it is more important to carefully check whether it matches your desired style and needs.

Q. Can the estimate increase during the surgery process?

A. It is fair to say that, in most cases, the estimate for surgery does not increase during the operation process.

Even in such cases, most of the time we would inform the patient in advance that if something like this happens,

we would add this procedure, so that is the usual way it is handled.

There is probably no need to worry too much.

Q. How can you identify excessive treatment?

A. Recommending or carrying out surgery that is not necessary is called excessive treatment,

but in plastic surgery, I think excessive treatment has a somewhat different meaning.

For example, when doing double eyelids, I may want an in-out line,

but there are cases where an epicanthoplasty is absolutely necessary. However, if I did not go in thinking about epicanthoplasty,

and then I am told to do it, I might misunderstand and wonder if that is excessive treatment.

So the judgment should first be based on whether the things you had not considered are truly necessary.

If you can understand and accept that they are really needed, then it is truly necessary surgery

and not excessive treatment. If you think carefully in advance about the design and appearance you want,

and compare whether the consultation content matches that, then you can avoid excessive treatment in the plastic surgery sense.

Q. Is it helpful to watch plastic surgery YouTube videos?

A. Before going to a plastic surgery clinic, I always say that you should go in with as much information as possible.

In that sense, watching YouTube can be very helpful because it allows you to gain information.

However, what you need to be careful about is that, due to the nature of YouTube, if you get hooked on content that is heavily one-sided—such as saying the surgery went amazingly well, or it was a complete disaster, or that you absolutely must do this—

then that cannot be accurate information, and that can be a downside.

So I hope you watch without leaning too far to one side, and then go to your consultation based on that.

I believe there is definitely a reason why there is so much interest in the cost of plastic surgery and excessive treatment.

Plastic surgery is not about treating disease, but about providing solutions for design and beauty, which may be why this happens.
