Today, among the rumors about nose surgery,

if you get rhinoplasty, do you have to get revision surgery no matter what?

Is rhinoplasty only complete after three surgeries?

We’ll take some time to see whether these rumors are true or not.

Q. Do you need revision surgery every 10 years for your nose?

To get straight to the point, that is not true.

There are cases where revision surgery is needed after rhinoplasty.

Typical examples are when the silicone inserted into the nose becomes visible through the tip of the nose,

or when the shape of the nose has changed or become distorted, revision surgery may be necessary.

In the past, surgical methods often involved inserting L-shaped silicone implants

or using fewer autologous tissues,

and over time, side effects sometimes occurred.

However, modern revision surgery methods are different.

Silicone is used for the bridge of the nose, while various autologous materials are used for the tip,

so the likelihood of the implant showing through or causing side effects over time is low.

Q. Is it not okay to have nose surgery in the summer?

In the past, air conditioning was not very good, and hygiene management seems to have been a bit difficult.

So I think that is why such rumors exist.

These days, there are no places without air conditioning, and the antibiotics taken after surgery have also improved,

so in reality, there is absolutely no increase in inflammation in summer compared with winter.

Therefore, since there is no specific season that is better or worse for surgery,

we recommend booking surgery according to your own schedule, regardless of the season.

Q. In what cases do you get revision rhinoplasty?

There are broadly two reasons people consider revision rhinoplasty.

First, some people think about revision surgery because they are not satisfied with the shape.

Even if you are not happy with the shape, once the surgical area stabilizes, the shape may settle.

However, there is a possibility that the shape may become distorted due to excessive scar tissue.

Even if you are unhappy with the shape or are worried about it,

we recommend waiting at least 6 months, seeing the final result,

and then proceeding with revision surgery when it is a safe time for surgery.

Second, when side effects occur.

A typical side effect is inflammation.

If the inflammation is mild, it can be resolved with antibiotics or simple cleaning,

but if it cannot be resolved, it must be treated with revision rhinoplasty.

If it cannot be resolved with medication, surgery must be performed immediately,

rather than waiting 6 months, to prevent contracture.

These two situations are when people consider revision surgery.
