The size of my face is the same,
but it actually looks larger.
This is a concern that many people share.
In most cases, the size of the face has not actually changed.
Rather, this change occurs as sagging begins.
Sagging tissue creates volume beneath the cheeks
and blurs the jawline, making the face appear
wider from side to side.
These changes are not simply a matter of elasticity.
A method is needed to restore the tissues that have descended.

The underlying cause of sagging
To improve facial sagging,
lifting only the surface skin is not enough.
The SMAS layer, located deeper than the dermis,
between the subcutaneous fat and muscle layers,
must also be examined and lifted harmoniously.
At Luho Plastic Surgery, facelifts are performed with the SMAS in mind,
focusing on anatomically repositioning
sagging tissue to its proper location.

Before: The facial central axis had lost its balance
✔ The midface and tissue around the mouth had descended
✔ The nasolabial folds and marionette lines had become connected
✔ The jawline boundary had become blurred, making the lower-face contour appear less defined
Together, these three factors
made the overall facial balance appear disrupted.
Rather than simply tightening the skin,
we focused on restoring the balance between
the facial central axis and lower face
by repositioning sagging soft tissue.

A natural lift without excessive tightening
A facelift does not produce better results
simply by pulling more tightly.
In fact, the more forcefully the tissues are pulled,
the more artificial the result may appear.
At our clinic, we carefully plan the degree of lifting
so that sagging tissue can return to its original position,
focusing on restoring the face's natural balance.

After: The facial central axis regained its balance
✨ Repositioning of the midface tissue
✨ A more defined area around the mouth, with reduced nasolabial folds and marionette lines
✨ A more distinct jawline
Through the facelift procedure, sagging soft tissue
was repositioned to match its anatomical location.
As the midface was naturally lifted,
the lower part of the face appears lighter and more refreshed.
A natural, vibrant impression was created.

Facelifts at Luho Plastic Surgery
do not apply the same surgical method
to every patient.
Because each person has different anatomical structures
and skin elasticity,
we create a stable result
through one-on-one personalized planning.
If you are currently considering a facelift,
it may be helpful to look into both
why the sagging occurred and how it can be corrected.
