Among the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in Korea,
eyelid surgery has always ranked first without dispute.
That is because Koreans tend to form an overall impression of a person
through the image of their eyes,
and this can have a major impact on social life and interpersonal relationships,
which is likely why it remains popular regardless of gender.
However, these days people often say that anyone can get double eyelid surgery,
but when it comes time to actually do it, many people are unsure what to look into.
So, for those who are worried because there are many and varied types of double eyelid surgery,
we will help answer various questions about double eyelid surgery.

During winter break like now, there are many consultations and inquiries from new students
who are about to enter university.
Because this is an age when people pay the most attention to appearance,
and when they admire the beautiful looks of celebrities,
there are often cases where they desperately want to become pretty quickly themselves,
ignore the type of double eyelid surgery that suits them,
and simply want something large and obvious.
However, if you simply copy someone else’s eye shape,
it may end up not matching your overall face,
and it may also fail to produce the eye shape you wanted.

First, let’s go step by step and look at what types of double eyelid surgery are available.
The natural adhesion method, which many people know about, is also called the buried suture method,
and usually involves making 3 to 4 small openings and tying knots to create the line.
At our clinic, in order to challenge a 0% chance of loosening,
we use the 5-stage continuous buried suture method,
using our know-how to ensure that more tissue can be tied to the thread and firmly fixed so it does not come undone.

In contrast, the incisional method is used for people whose eyelids have thick fat
or who have severe eyelid sagging.
It refers to a method that creates the double eyelid line after removing some unnecessary fat or skin.
What is important here is that, if you want to avoid sausage-like eyes, deep scars,
or the phenomenon of eyelash turning upward, you must use a method that fixes directly to the tarsal plate rather than the muscle that raises the eyelid.
Only then can you complete a naturally and firmly fixed line without the unnatural appearance described above.

The last of the types of double eyelid surgery is the partial incision method.
This method can satisfy both the convenience of the buried suture method and the definite surgical results of the incisional method at the same time.
By making three small incision openings,
some unnecessary fat is removed, and after incising along this line,
adhesion is induced between the eyelid skin and the muscle used when opening the eyes,
so that the double eyelid line is completed naturally.

Then, while looking into the types of double eyelid surgery,
some of you may have heard about eye correction.
What is eye correction?
Eye correction is a procedure performed in cases of ptosis,
where the function of the muscle that opens the eyes is congenitally weak,
so the eyelids cannot open fully.

Although it is similar in that it creates a basic double eyelid line,
it also involves correction so that the eyes can open more clearly.
This, too, is divided into incisional and non-incisional methods depending on each patient’s eyelid fat thickness and degree of skin sagging,
so it should not be decided unconditionally.
The right way is to decide after consultation with experienced medical staff.
