Right now, at Grace Plastic Surgery

Hello, I’m Dr. Choi, a plastic surgery specialist. Today, I’d like to compare cases with a large age difference.
The reasons why people in their 20s and 50s undergo plastic surgery differ by age group. In their 20s, the reasons for plastic surgery are to improve appearance and pursue an ideal face shape. Many people consider surgery to create more defined facial features or a slimmer face shape. There are many consultations for plastic surgery to improve first impressions and personal satisfaction. Especially in the mid-to-late 20s, as people begin social life, some choose plastic surgery to boost their confidence. They are also greatly influenced by Instagram and other social media, as well as celebrities. The desire to follow the aesthetic standards shown in the media can play a role. Some people consider plastic surgery because it may help with job hunting, dating, and strengthening social competitiveness, and it can be helpful in fields where first impressions matter, such as service, broadcasting, and marketing.

The biggest reason people in their 50s undergo plastic surgery is to regain youth. As skin elasticity declines, sagging and wrinkles caused by aging become more pronounced, so many undergo procedures to improve these changes. To maintain a youthful appearance and look younger than their age, they may consider treatments such as lifting, fillers, upper eyelid fat grafting, upper blepharoplasty, and lower eyelid fat repositioning. These procedures can improve self-satisfaction and restore confidence. Some people also choose plastic surgery to gain psychological satisfaction through changes in appearance and to regain confidence. The late-50s case shown today underwent upper eyelid fat grafting and incisional ptosis correction to address functional issues such as drooping eyelids. Incisional ptosis correction was performed to improve eyelid drooping (ptosis) or sagging skin caused by aging that was obstructing the field of vision, and the progress after autologous fat was grafted into the hollow upper eyelid area is shown here. Although the purpose of plastic surgery differs by age, ultimately it can be seen as a choice made to gain confidence and pursue a better life.
