The most delicate way to brighten a tired-looking impression
Hello. I’m Dr. Choi Moon-seop, Director of Grace Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to talk about the areas that many patients worry about most during consultations: hollow upper eyelids (eye hollows) and under-eye puffiness (under-eye fat).
You look tired.
If you hear this often, take a closer look. When fat above the eyelids disappears and the fat under the eyes protrudes, the face as a whole can start to look tired and aged. In particular, if you have double eyelids with a folded crease, the area above the eyes can appear even more sunken and heavy. In this case, the most suitable solution is the combination of “upper eyelid fat grafting” and “under-eye fat repositioning.”

Upper eyelid fat grafting - autologous fat grafting that naturally fills in hollow eye hollows. Upper eyelid fat grafting is a procedure in which fat is collected from the patient’s own body and delicately transplanted into the sunken area above the eyes.
For this procedure, I use a specially developed ultra-fine cannula to disperse and transplant the fat with precision and care. This method not only helps improve the survival rate of the grafted fat, but also has the advantage of maintaining natural volume and a smooth surface.

Under-eye fat repositioning - a method that flattens protruding fat and removes shadows
When the under-eye area becomes puffier, shadows form below it and it can look like dark circles. Rather than simply removing fat, the most natural and quickest-recovery approach is to reposition the fat and smooth the area evenly without unevenness. In particular, the key to under-eye fat repositioning is preserving the softness of the under-eye contour. Because this is an area where refinement matters more than removal, the procedure requires an eye for design and extensive precision surgical experience.

The reason these two procedures are often considered together is simple.
It’s because hollowness and protrusion above and below the eyes often occur at the same time.
• The area above the eyes becomes hollow
• The area below the eyes becomes protruded
• When these two issues overlap, the overall impression
can look tired and older than you really are.
Therefore, when the two procedures are performed together,
the three-dimensional balance around the eyes can be adjusted,
helping create a softer and clearer impression.
Will it look obvious?
Both procedures are performed using non-incisional or minimally incisional methods, with a relatively short recovery period and natural-looking changes. Most important of all is designing the result so it suits your face without overdoing it.

At Grace Plastic Surgery, based on over 25 years of experience specializing in upper eyelid fat grafting and eye surgery, we perform procedures in a way that suits each patient’s facial structure and image. If you are considering it, we recommend that you do not rely only on online searches and instead start by getting an in-person consultation.
