Recovery Timeline Before and After Eyelid Orbital Fat Grafting: 1 Week

Before surgery (Before), a hollowing appearance was observed as the fat in the upper eyelids had diminished, giving an overall impression of fatigue and making the face look older.

D-Day (Day of the procedure, After Surgery Day 0) Immediately after the procedure, minor bruising and temporary swelling may occur in the local area. When looking in the mirror, a slight increase in volume may be noticeable, but due to the swelling, the exact contour is not yet clearly defined. This is a normal early reaction and usually stabilizes within a few days.

Day 2 (2 days after the procedure) This is when swelling is at its worst, and the entire area may look puffy. Bruising may appear in mixed tan or purple tones, which is part of the normal absorption process of the hematoma. During this period, applying cold compresses and following the prescribed care instructions can help recovery.

Day 3 (3 days after the procedure) The bruising also begins to fade, and the double eyelid line gradually starts to become visible. It is still too early to conclude the final result, but the injected fat can be seen compensating for the hollow upper eyelid area.

Day 7 (1 week after the procedure) Most of the swelling at the treatment area has subsided, and the bruising has also almost disappeared. The injected fat blends with the surrounding eyelid tissue, leaving a natural-looking volume that is not excessive. In particular, an injection volume of about 0.8cc can be effective in restoring a lively appearance without placing strain on the anatomical structure of the eyelid. However, stable fat survival and line settling are usually confirmed only after about 1 month.

In particular, because the eyelid has thin skin and the muscles, fat, and orbital septum are closely connected, even slight differences can lead to different outcomes.
