The Story Behind Filming “Happiness on Board, Doctor Car,” a Mobile Medical Outreach Project (Director Choi Se-kyung in Suseo)

This is Good Day, sharing heartfelt stories from the dental clinic,

as always^^

Recently, our dental clinic provided care that was a little more special and heartwarming than usual.

Director Choi Se-kyung personally took responsibility for treating a patient through a medical outreach initiative.

Let’s take a look inside this vivid experience!

Seoul is known for having the most impressive medical infrastructure in South Korea.

However, behind that reality, there are people who desperately need treatment but, for various practical reasons, have been unable to receive timely care and have endured their circumstances for a long time.

In situations where even the simple things that once felt natural in everyday life—including the joy of eating—gradually move out of reach, their wishes are more modest than you might expect.

They simply want to smile comfortably

and enjoy the foods they want to eat without restriction.

In the course of providing care,

we often meet people who urgently need treatment but are unable to get started.

They stay on our minds every time..

That is why, hoping we could help these people even in a small way,

we launched the “Happiness on Board, Doctor Car” project!

Because dental treatment typically requires multiple visits and a lengthy treatment period,

there are many aspects that are difficult to resolve through “mobile care” alone.

So, instead of using a medical bus,

we decided to drive the “Doctor Car” ourselves and bring patients to the hospital.

We believe the Doctor Car is not simply a means of transportation,

but another part of the care process—listening to the patient’s story,

empathizing with their feelings, and walking alongside them^^

When we first met the patient,

announcer Kim Seon-geun helped guide what could have been an awkward situation with warmth and ease~!

We were connected with this patient through a social worker.

Because of financial difficulties, the patient had been unable to receive dental treatment for a long time.

After undergoing carotid artery surgery in the past, as well as several leg surgeries,

the patient was also receiving treatment for insomnia and mental health concerns,

and was experiencing considerable inconvenience in daily life because of dental problems.

In particular, in the early twenties,

the patient underwent more extractions than were necessary at a dental clinic

and subsequently avoided dental visits for nearly 15 years.

During that time, the patient endured a difficult period while repeatedly replacing removable dental prostheses.

When we first met, the patient had very few molars remaining, and the upper and lower bite was unstable.

It was difficult to eat not only meat and kimchi but even ordinary meals comfortably.

Concern about bad breath had also led to the habit of covering the mouth with a hand while smiling.

Because treatment had been delayed, the molars had been lost,

while the front teeth had also suffered considerable aesthetic damage,

causing significant discomfort in everyday life.

We expected the patient to feel very nervous and worried at the first visit,

but instead, the patient expressed excitement not felt in decades

simply at the thought that

“I’ll have teeth again.”

Seeing this, Director Choi Se-kyung felt an even greater sense of responsibility,

approaching the treatment with the belief that it was about more than simply providing dental care—it was about helping create a change in the patient’s life.

The patient has now successfully completed all of the planned treatment based on a detailed diagnosis.

At first, a lack of confidence in the front teeth led the patient to unconsciously cover the mouth whenever smiling,

but as treatment progressed,

the patient gradually regained a confident smile 😊

In particular, the restoration of the front teeth was completed with careful attention to their shape, color, and overall harmony,

creating a natural appearance.

This was also the part that made the patient especially happy each time they looked in the mirror.

We even heard the sweet news that the patient proudly showed the results to friends ^^ haha

For Director Choi Se-kyung, this treatment was even more meaningful because it went beyond treating a single tooth:

it enabled the patient to smile comfortably again

and regain confidence in everyday life.

At first, Director Choi Se-kyung was also worried because appearing in front of a camera felt unfamiliar.

Through treatment, Director Choi Se-kyung wants not only to restore aesthetics and function,

but also to go further and create positive change in someone’s life.
