Hello! Today, to help answer your questions about prosthodontic treatment, we would like to introduce some frequently asked questions and their answers.
Then, let’s get started~

Q: What is resin treatment?
A: Resin is a material used for tooth wear caused by brushing, tooth fractures, and cavity treatment. It is a material similar to a type of reinforced plastic and has a tooth-like color.
Resin treatment is a procedure that uses this resin to treat damaged parts of a tooth. It is especially often used for treating front teeth, where aesthetics are important, but nowadays it is also widely used for molars.

Q: In what cases is a gold crown used?
A: The procedure of covering a tooth with an artificial cap is called a crown. There are three cases in which a crown procedure is performed.
When tooth decay has progressed severely and treatment for decay alone is not enough
When tooth decay has progressed severely and too much of the tooth must be removed, a crown is placed to protect the remaining tooth structure.
When root canal treatment has been performed
After root canal treatment, the tooth nerve tissue is removed and filled with another material, which causes dehydration in the tooth. As a result, the tooth becomes as hard as glass and is more likely to break under sudden strong force. That is why a crown is placed after root canal treatment.
When it is needed for making a partial denture
When getting a partial denture, crown treatment is performed first to protect the natural tooth and improve the shape of the tooth so that the clasp can hook properly. This is done so that the denture can be fixed in the mouth by wrapping the tooth with this clasp.

Q: What is bridge treatment?
A: Bridge treatment refers to a treatment in which, when a tooth has been lost for various reasons such as cavities or trauma, the teeth in front of and behind the missing tooth are shaved down and made into one piece to be covered. It is called a bridge because the teeth on both sides are shaved and connected like a bridge.
The content has become too long, so we will reveal the other questions next time through Part 2. Please look forward to the next installment!
